Leak Search Operations Supervisor I

The Leak Search Team is looking for an Operations Supervisor I t o manage the day to day operations. In this job, you will be responsible for the direct supervision of a team of 10, managing day to day activities, scheduling of personnel and providing guidance, direction and technical expertise to a team of employees who are responsible for providing 24/7/365 service to customers and responding to odor calls and hit lines.

The successful candidate will need to work on call, overtime, holidays, and after business hours as the need for emergency response and/or as business needs require.

Your expert knowledge and skill will be highly valued as you work on projects involving the following areas:

  • Supervising staff, including monitoring and evaluating personnel per the Personnel Policies Manual

  • Planning, coordinating and supervising the required system facility inspections in relation to the compliance schedule for annual, protected, unprotected and other out of cycle leak inspections

  • Ensuring compliance with mandated Leak Survey inspections by running monthly scheduled reports, delinquent reports, and numerous database reports to ensure data integrity in the PCS (Pipeline Compliance System)

  • Participate in developing short and long-term plans and performance goals for the Section and/or systems; supporting the Department’s strategic planning

  • Assure proper maintenance and calibration of Leak Search instruments

  • Monitoring compliance with work methods and procedures to meet quality, control, safety standards, and requirements

  • Coordinating with other Operation Supervisors regarding Gas Leak monitoring and prioritization of gas leaks

  • Ensuring On call schedule is met and plan for potential unanticipated emergencies based on conditions. (Floods, weather, odorization issues, overpressure, excessive odor calls, etc)

  • Recommend revisions to department/division policies, standards, Operator qualifications and operating procedures

  • Representing the Leak Search section in various internal and external meetings and functions

  • Ensuring all employees comply with the safety and health program in support of an incident and injury free workplace

What will it take to be successful? While you most likely already have several years of natural gas leak detection experience, the ideal candidate will have previous leadership and knowledge of Natural Gas Systems. Driving a Colorado Springs Utilities vehicle is required for this position, as such a valid Driver’s License is required.
