Colorado Springs Utilities is looking to hire an Information Technology Supervisor to join our team. In this job, you will be responsible for the systems administration team supporting our on-premise and cloud-based Windows/UNIX/Linux servers, data storage, and related IT infrastructure support technology and applications such as DevOps and systems management and monitoring. You will also lead the team in the planning, design, implementation, organization, and operation of the organization’s server and storage systems including redundancy, resiliency, and disaster recovery in a high availability architecture as indicated by business requirements. Compliance with all Colorado Springs Utilities regulatory requirements is also a significant component of the position.

Key areas of focus:

  • Provide leadership in driving and automating our server/storage infrastructure, including managing multiple data center related projects concurrently, ensuring timely completion of tasks, and ensuring the data center is running reliably and effectively

  • Develop and implement policies/plans/procedures for daily operational management, including best practices for installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting server and storage-related issues

  • Train and develop technical staff to ensure they have the required knowledge and skills to function as efficiently as possible for operations and maintenance of systems, acquisition & installation of enterprise hardware & software, resource planning, and project management

  • Research and evaluate information technology advancements and industry trends against the unit’s technology and capacity needs to forecast equipment

  • Monitor and measure the team's service level agreements (SLA's), project deliverables, and produce reports detailing systems performance and utilization

  • Perform capacity planning on server and storage systems to support business operations

  • Select required hardware/software/services, negotiate/complete contracts for purchases working with Colorado Springs Utilities Procurement Department as applicable, as well as dispose of obsolete equipment by defined life-cycle practices while managing the unit’s budget

  • Comply with the safety and health program in support of an incident and injury-free workplace

  • Collaborate effectively with all Colorado Springs Utilities IT teams and internal/external Business Partners to rapidly implement solid server/storage/application infrastructure solutions to move the enterprise forward

Desired Knowledge and Skills:

  • Installation, maintenance, operation, tuning, troubleshooting, redundancy, and disaster recovery of enterprise-class server, storage, and backup environments

  • Experience with Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) cloud solutions (Azure, Amazon Web Services, etc.)

  • Strong knowledge of configuration management tools (Puppet, Chef, Helion, vRealize Automation, etc.)

  • Server deployment automation, systems management, and task automation (Linux, Unix, Windows SCCM, PowerShell, OneView, Ansible, PERL)

  • Supporting Windows and Linux (Red Hat, Oracle, Ubuntu) on a hyper-converged platform and legacy UNIX (Solaris) support including UNIX to Linux migration

  • Experience supporting highly available VMware ESX environments (ESXi 6, SRM, vCloud Director)

  • SAN storage arrays, NAS storage solutions, storage protocols, Cloud-based storage, and data protection capabilities

  • Enterprise-Class Storage Area Networking experience (Fiber Channel Directors and Switches, zoning, etc.) in a high availability configuration

  • Backup solutions, recovery methodologies and offsite vaulting/archiving, Cloud-based virtual tape backups (Veritas, VDP, Avamar)

  • Software-Defined Data Center architecture (NSX, ACI) in hybrid private/public cloud models

Who you are: You are likely someone who comes with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Technology or a closely related field, as well as offer at least 3 years of experience in a leadership role within information technology. This role requires the ability to inspire, motivate, develop, and coach technical professionals, collaborate, and communicate professionally to all levels within the organization.
