Within this role, you will be responsible for a wide variety of technical duties and will ensure that all activities adhere to Colorado Springs Utilities Safety Rules and Construction Standards. You will be supervising workgroups that repair Water Main Breaks, Service Lines, Point Repairs, Valve replacements, Hydrant Repairs/Replacement, Water Main Replacements for 2-C, and Special Projects for Water Operations, Development Services, and other CSU departments as needed.
In this job, you will be responsible for:
Enhancing and developing the safety culture within WCM and fostering a positive safety culture for self and the entire team
Supervising crews by providing feedback, and evaluating performance through performance management
Ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and safety procedures
Inspecting worksites and verifying personnel, equipment, and supply requirements are met
Preparing reports and maintaining paperwork
Participating in and providing training
Investigating damage to distribution system by internal staff and third parties
Utilizing computers and various software programs
Supervising responses to emergency situations which include locating, identifying, and evaluating emergencies for immediate repair. This also includes 24-hour on-call duty along with rotating shift work of teams.
Who you are… Ideally, you will have 5+ years of experience in a supervisor role. You will need demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and team evaluation skills, consistent history of safety and regulation compliance, worksite inspection experience. Class A Commercial Driver’s License, Distribution, and Collections State Certifications are preferred. Passion for safety, continuous improvement, innovation, attention to detail, problem-solving, and dedication are a must to be successful in this role.
