Colorado Springs Utilities is a community-owned, four-service utility proudly providing natural gas, electric, water, and wastewater services since 1924. Our Customer Portfolio Information Systems Team is counted on to support, implement, maintain and troubleshoot our Customer System Technologies critical to supporting Advanced Metering Infrastructure.

As a System Administrator, you will provide exceptional support for mission-critical applications as part of our IT Customer Portfolio. The position has the responsibility for researching, troubleshooting, and supporting multiple on-site and cloud-based Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) systems in integrated and highly configured environments. In this job, you will solve problems collaboratively with internal stakeholders by providing consistent, high-quality implementation and support services.

*Utilities is advertising this position at multiple levels, either an Intermediate or a Senior. The successful candidate will be offered a position and a corresponding salary commensurate with experience.

Key Areas of Focus:

  • Manage and administer software systems to ensure high availability, reliability, interconnectivity, and security of the supported business applications in the portfolio

  • Manage and administer application servers and software above the OS layer

  • Install/Configure/Decommission/Deploy/Tune Software Applications

  • Participate in On-Call rotation (every 4-6 weeks; with 7-day on-call coverage)Troubleshoot and resolve production application/system issues

  • Identify, evaluate, coordinate, schedule, and install application-related patches and upgrades

  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing, including producing/maintaining a disaster recovery plan

  • Configure and refine system monitoring and alerts

  • Consult with analysts, developers, and project teams for promoting system changes through the various environments

  • Plan, create, improve, and maintain procedures and documentation related to administration of software applications, system and architecture design, implementation and back-out plans, user management, and system release management

  • Automate System Administration functions, such as environment refreshes and password changes

  • Coordinates with vendor support for issue resolutions, patching, system upgrades, and release management

  • Contribute to the development and management of knowledge-sharing methodologies, diagnostic tools, and creative processes, to improve the user experience

  • Maintain open communication, transparency, trust & collaboration within & across departments

Qualifications...

  • Strong Production Support / Implementation experience

  • Ability to work as a team in a diverse/ multiple stakeholder environment

  • Experience working in an Oracle database environment

  • Experience working in a Unix or Linux server environment

  • Sound problem-solving skills with linear and logical troubleshooting

  • Attention to detail and the ability to learn quickly

  • Ability to work calmly and professionally in high-pressure situations

Highly Desirable…

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or closely related field

  • System monitoring tools and techniques

  • Batch job scheduling and execution tools

  • Oracle Utilities Customer Care and Billing (CC&B) and/or Meter Data Management (MDM) experience
