The Dominion Energy’s Power Generation business unit seeks a highly-motivated Manager - Environmental Compliance to support Clover Power Station. Dominion Energy's Clover Power Station is located about 110 miles west of Richmond on the Staunton River, in Halifax County; the station generates approximately 880 megawatts and operates multiple environmental facilities.
Manages the coordination of and negotiation with local, state, and national regulatory agencies regarding environmental permitting and compliance matters, and for preparation and oversight of reports to internal departments and external agencies.
Establishes processes for ensuring compliance with environmental, chemical and waste management and permit regulations for Clover Power Station.
Coordinates with and monitors operations and maintenance personnel to ensure compliance with environmental, chemical safety, waste management, wildlife management, rules and regulations.
Oversees inspections or assessments and provide advice or recommendations regarding compliance issues to management
Manages the administration and implementation of environmental programs; ensures hazardous waste disposal, provide training to site personnel in the handling of chemicals, waste materials and other procedural requirements.
Evaluate new regulations and coordinate new compliance plans accordingly by working with internal and external stakeholders (Dominion Energy, Corporate Environmental group, local, state and federal regulatory agencies, etc.)
Provide leadership to Chemistry and Environmental Quality staff to facilitate multimedia environmental compliance support, permit support and compliance reporting, and ensure training and tools are provided to implement compliance programs
Management and oversight of onsite solid waste Industrial landfill.
Manages capital and O&M budgets and goals
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
Extensive knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, and permitting requirements governing the Power Generation Industry. These include but not limited to the following; Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure Plan preparation and maintenance, wetlands permitting, air permitting, VPDES, storm water permitting, solid waste disposal, landfill management & CCR regulations, waste management & disposal, CEM’s, Environmental Compliance tracking system, Oil discharge control & countermeasure plans.
Minimum 10 years directly related experience in environmental regulations is required.
Previous leadership/management experience is preferred
Power Plant and/or Industrial Manufacturing experience is preferred
Minimum of 2 years of experience working closely with regulatory agencies (local, state, and federal) preferred
Candidate should have an in-depth knowledge of environmental regulations and requirements
Knowledge and understanding of government regulations and laws pertaining to the disposal and marketing of coal combustion residuals.
Inter-relationship skills are also required as well as the ability to work independently
Must have the ability to make and recommend rational decisions
Knowledge of computer applications
Technical writing and Mathematical skills.
Ability to conduct site inspections or walk downs on several hundred acres of power station property.
Confidence in public speaking to internal and external stakeholders regarding the environmental impact of Clover Power Station.
