Duties and Responsibilities
Safe and efficient operation of equipment and tools necessary to perform maintenance on mechanical equipment.
Under the direction of a Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor and/or Lead Man, Journeyman Mechanics are responsible for maintaining , troubleshooting and repairing mechanical equipment and structures in and around the power plant including but is not limited to steam generators, turbine generators, electrical generators, compressors, pumps, fans, vehicles, tractors, all coal handing equipment, valves, and piping.
Maintenance to include the repair of failures, machining of parts, rigging, welding, piping, lubricating, insulating, painting, issues tools, cleaning and any other work to assure proper operation and appearance of equipment, structures, and grounds.
Possess knowledge of machine shop equipment as well as precision instruments.
Required to read and interpret prints, sketches, and technical manuals.
Keep all tools and work areas clean and orderly manner.
Periodic inspections of all mechanical equipment, reporting any concerns to a s upervisor.
Use necessary hand tools, miscellaneous equipment and handheld technology.
Required to work from heights.
Assist in the training of mechanics.
Follow all policies and procedures established by the Mechanical Maintenance Department and AECI.
Perform any other work as assigned however, work will not be assigned arbitrarily or capriciously.
Requirements and Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum of five years’ work experience in heavy industrial mechanical repair with two of those years’ performing machinist duties.
OR
M inimum of five years’ mechanical experience at an AECI plant, with experience in machining practice including machine shop equipment as well as machine shop precision instruments .
Obtain passing result from the applicable pre-employment test (s) .
Outside candidates must successfully complete the established AECI machin e test , pre-hire ; internal bidders must successfully complete the established AECI machini st test prior to award of bid job .
Basic computer skills required .
Achieve and maintain a competent level of technical skills and knowledge in order to satisfactorily perform duties and responsibilities .
Demonstrate a strong mechanical ability and w illingness to learn all components of the entire power plant.
