We are currently seeking applicants for an Assistant Maintenance Manager in the Power Production Division at the Thomas Hill Energy Center.
The Assistant Maintenance Manager reports to the Maintenance Manager and is responsible to assist in managing maintenance of all power plant generating units, coal handling facilities, and auxiliary equipment to ensure safety and reliability. This position will manage employees and work schedules with the goal of maximizing the safe and cost-effective repair of equipment to minimize or eliminate back log and ensure reliability of the equipment; direct the completion of all maintenance repairs and the return of units to operations as soon as safely possible after scheduled and unscheduled outages; assist in development of preventive maintenance plans to reduce the cost of maintenance, optimize the workforce, and increase the run time of equipment; assist in creating and/or submitting project proposals for the capital and operations & maintenance budget; support training on all systems and equipment used; observe work processes and techniques, and provide suggestions for improvement as needed; and communicate problems and concerns with other departments at the plant to ensure that these problems do not become major issues. The Assistant Maintenance Manager will be responsible for encouraging a strong safety culture, leading by example and engaging maintenance employees on safety concepts and known safety issues.
Knowledge, Skill, and Ability requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience. At least three years’ experience with power production or manufacturing plants, steam turbines, pumps, fans, coal handling equipment, air compressors, etc. or related industrial experience. At least 5 years’ supervisory experience required; experience working with union labor is preferred. Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Clearly convey information and ideas verbally and through a variety of media. Project management experience preferred. Demonstrate the ability to use excellent professional judgment and utilize facts to make decisions and address problem areas. Demonstrate the ability to use computer applications to process large amounts of information, create requisitions to establish contracts, and procure material. Knowledge of Microsoft Business Programs is required, including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. Possess the discipline to follow established methodology, while maintaining a questioning attitude.
