Metering Services offers qualified students, in accredited programs leading to an Associate/Bachelor of Science Degree, the opportunity to work in various areas of metering services on a rotational basis as part of the engineering cooperative program. Metering Services manages Meter Lab Services, Meter Field Services, Meter Engineering, and Meter Reading for the Midwest Duke Energy service area. Meter Services co-ops will work alongside meter service employees who manage meter testing in both the field and shop environment, instrument calibration and repair, and meter engineering design and problem solving solutions.
This co-op position is open for students pursuing degrees in undergraduate studies in Electrical, Power, and Civil Engineering. In addition to working within your discipline, you may be asked to work across a multi-services discipline platform.
This co-op position will be based in Cincinnati, OH and may require travel to various facilities within the area.
Currently enrolled and pursuing a degree in Electrical, Power, or Civil Engineering at an accredited college or university
Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
Ability to work up to three non-contiguous co-op sessions
Valid driver’s license
Experience with Microsoft suite software
Currently enrolled and pursuing a degree based in Electrical Engineering at an accredited college or university
Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills
Demonstrates ability to provide the quantity and quality of work necessary to reach an accomplishment
Demonstrated leadership qualities through effective decision making
Works effectively with others from diverse backgrounds to achieve a common goal
Ability to deliver superior results within an allocated time though effective prioritization, scheduling, planning and execution of assigned work
Demonstrates tenacity by remaining persistent in the face of adversity
Demonstrated technical proficiency in the use of computers, software, and engineering applications
Desire to pursue a career in the energy industry
Previous engineering work experience
Required to wear personal protective equipment (hardhat, safety glasses, appropriate clothing, ear plugs, fall protection, etc.) as needed
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
- Office and field environment – requires walking, light lifting, standing, and occasional exposure to temperature and noise
