In this job, you’ll be part of the T&D Construction Methods team within the Transmission & Substation Technical Support group. This position will provide timely, effective, and detailed technical support to address issues within the Transmission construction and maintenance (TC&M) activities area. You will be an internal subject matter expert (SME) and may be recognized externally (vendors, other utilities, regulatory agencies) within the industry and will collaborate as necessary to share industry information, and best practices. This person will act as a consultant on specialized technical problems and issues requiring SME support to Transmission and cross-functional partner requirements.As a Transmission Advisor , your work will help power our planet, reduce carbon emissions and create cleaner air for everyone.   • Lead, facilitate or participate in specialized technical projects, teams and committees involving new technologies, work methods, tools, equipment, vehicles, quality control issues, safety issues, and standards.

  • Ensure that the most current utility TC&M industry technologies and work practices are researched, analyzed, evaluated and recommended for implementation to senior management while assuring that the business unit and company goals are being met within the regulatory/standards (e.g. OSHA, ANSI, ASTM, etc.).

  • Make tactical decisions regarding changes or additions to projects and products related to vehicles, equipment, tools, and test equipment used by TC&M.

  • Ensure existing work methods and practices are optimized for safety and efficiency purposes.

  • Participate in developing policies, procedures and work practices related to TC&M construction and maintenance activities, including publishing technical documentation such as manuals, job aids, and technical bulletins.

  • Travel to external industry trade events and seminars for research and information gathering to support Transmission and company business goals, objectives, and initiatives.

  • Participate in safety audits, accident investigations, root cause analysis and make recommendations.

Qualifications

The essentials

  • Seven or more years of combinedexperience in a Transmission Construction and Maintenance role or Transmission Engineering role.

  • Valid Driver’s license.

The preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree.

  • Knowledge of processes and methodologies used in the research, development, and evaluation of work methods, materials, tools, equipment, and vehicles used in Transmission Construction and Maintenance areas.

  • Ability to develop creative long-range concepts for the acquisition of the new equipment and vehicles required to reconstruct an aging infrastructure.

  • Ability to lead, facilitate and participate on technical related teams to address issues in the areas of safety, construction and maintenance, standards, and quality.

  • Experience developing and delivering technical/non-technical presentations, technical papers, to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Experience using Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Project Management experience or knowledge.

  • Work Mode: When a return-to-office date has been determined, this position’s work mode is hybrid . The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.

  • Relocation does not apply to this position.

  • Position will require up to 20% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.

  • This position may also be able to work out of our Chino training location as well.

  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
