Become a Training Sr Specialist at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll be responsible for developing and delivering electrical system training to employees in T&D. The Training Specialist will develop and maintain a systematic approach to training for all training content and programs while delivering a variety of Training sessions. The training specialist will be responsible for administering and facilitating various assessments.

A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

  • Facilitates and implements self-study materials, classroom training and associated coursework, lesson plans, student guides and manuals.

  • Determines pass/fail criteria for training courses and recommending corrective/coaching paths.

  • Researches, designs and develops training and associated coursework by partnering with T&D Training Schools, internal stakeholders and external sources.

  • Delivers and facilitates training in a classroom environment as well as non-classroom environments (e.g. field training).

  • Partners with front line employees and management to identify training gaps (needs assessment and job/task analysis) and resolves all training issues; assisting in managing the training budget.

  • Evaluates and maintains all training materials; facilitating, monitoring and reporting associated training metrics to measure training goals and progress.

  • Determines major project milestones and deliverables.

  • Attends grid communication and safety meetings throughout the organization.

  • Provides subject matter expertise on changes and improvements to work processes and procedures.

  • Participates and stays current on the development of new technologies, equipment, company initiatives and corrective actions in order to provide up to date coaching and feedback.

  • Implements training plans and curriculum for introducing technologies and work practices.

  • Coordinate training efforts with Field Management for annual training projects including but not limited to Annual Compliance training and Just in Time Training.

  • Facilitates and administers training tests.

  • Attends regional communication and safety meetings throughout the organization and partners with front line employees and management to identify training gaps and resolve all training issues.

  • Participating in cross-functional workgroups.

  • Provides expertise on changes and improvements to work processes and procedures.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Maintains a safety conscious work environment by following Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.

Qualifications

The essentials

  • Five or more years in an electric utility environment designing or performing any of the following: electric training, distribution line work, planning, transmission line work, substation construction and maintenance, grid operations, field operations and engineering.

The preferred

  • Experience as a Journeyman Lineman

  • Experience as a Journeyman Electrician

  • Experience with the ADDIE model

  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications

  • Experience as a system operator

You should know ...

  • When a return-to-office date has been determined, this position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.

  • Position will require up to 60% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.

  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation.Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
