Testing Required: Not Applicable

Emergency Response: Yes – Must be available to perform a primary assignment in support of DTE’s emergency response to storms or other events that impact service to our customers.

Job Summary

  • Responsible for building and completing mid-size assignments as directed by more experienced developers. This individual will participate in the design, development, unit test, and software implemen-tation process while providing level 1 support for the production application environment. Mentored by Developer and Senior Developers on code, technical concepts, and ability to structure code. Works under general supervision.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develops application code, queries, scripts, web pages, and develops and executes unit tests with assistance.

  • Participates in development and level 2 support of applications

  • Receives time estimates for assignments from others.

  • Keeps abreast of technology trends and DTE Energy strategies, standards, and guidelines in order to select technologies that are appropriate and cost beneficial.

  • Participates in system, unit, and integration testing.

  • Assists Senior and Principal Developers with formal and informal presentations.

  • Works on a team in a collaborative environment.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline with no experience, OR Associate degree in a related discipline or program certification(s) (equivalent to 2 years of experience) with no experience, OR a high school diploma or GED and 2 years experience in application development and design components

Other Qualifications


  • Experience using most current program development technologies (i.e Oracle, Java)

  • Organizational skills and good oral/written communication skills.

  • Internal or contractor targeted commentary

  • Demonstrated knowledge of SDP and other DTE IT methodologies.

  • General understanding of IT industry, i.e emerging technologies, industry standards, support services, architectures, systems design, systems integration, and knowledge of IT processes.

  • Ability to take work direction from others.

  • Ability to work collaboratively on a team.
