Responsible for developing and executing internal and external communications plans to support primarily corporate social responsibility initiatives for one of the region’s most active corporate citizens, as well as other corporate priorities as needed. Supports corporate and executive communications for signature and ongoing CSR programs driven by corporate philanthropy, employee volunteerism and community investment to build reputation as a thoughtful and effective corporate steward. Also supports other communications priorities, ranging from customer operations to diversity and inclusion, as needed. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director, Communications and VP, Corporate Communications. This position reports to the Director, Communications.


1 Ensure effective communication of corporate messages and content to internal and external audiences.

2 Collaborate with business unit communicators to ensure consistency of messaging.

3 Develop and execute CSR and other communication strategies to support business plans and objectives, as well as Exelon corporate objectives.

4 Produce accurate, compelling, and editorially proficient written communications.

5 Manage a variety of communication tasks to support leadership, including talking points, short presentations, and online messages.

6 Consult and advise corporate relations lead and staff on strategies for communicating giving, volunteer and partnership programs.

7 Manage vendor/agency relationships in the execution of projects.



-Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field; 4-7 years’ professional experience in communications.

-Proven, excellent communications skills – both written and interpersonal.

-Demonstrated strategic thinking, creativity and project management skills.

-Experience working directly with senior executives and across functional teams in a matrixed organization.

-Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.


-Experience in CSR and/or nonprofit communications.

-Experience managing programs across both digital and traditional communications channels.

  • Position reports directly to the Director of Communications.

  • Position activities are focused on internal and external communications, while participating in and supporting initiatives and projects developed by communicators across all business units and corporate.

  • Involves proactive communication planning and plan execution, significant writing, editing and development of communications materials, and a high level of coordination with other communication functions within Corporate Communications.

  • Requires strong writing, editing and project management skills.

  • High level of organizational, strategic thinking, and presentational skills required

  • Required travel.

  • Operates independently with little or no supervision.
