Job Specifications

Responsible for development and maintenance of Generation Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS), and Turbine Control System (TCS); as well was networking between the different systems

SALARY RANGE: $100,650 - $166,050 (Determined by the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the candidate)

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Senior Generation Engineering Manager

LOCATION:Cheyenne, WY

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage sites controls personnel to maintain the multiple control systems including patching, Maintenance, Alarm Management, NERC Cybersecurity & Cyber Assets, CT-20 Initiatives, and Change Management.

  • Assign or assist engineering project managers with controls related projects from conception to completion (scope, specifications, plan, and direct work) on capital and O&M projects and collaboration with site and IT/OT personnel.

  • Assist in budget preparation for assigned areas of capital, maintenance, and operation activities

  • Responsible for conducting monitoring, data collection and analysis for control systems.

  • Maintain communication and protocols between various systems and compliance with standards or best practice for cyber-security. Collaboration with BHE OET, Networks group, and Information Security.

  • Responsible for the DCS, third party PLCs & Turbine Controls and other controls systems for all steam and gas turbines.

  • Maintain & supervise the controls system contracts for third party maintenance schemes, i.e. Wind, Solar, other.

  • Have lead responsibility for plant control systems; collaborating with and directing employees who report through the IT department as well as supervision and management of IT control positions at the facilities NSC, CPGS, and PAGS

  • Supervise third party contractors brought in for tuning or other controls adjustments.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Comprehensive understanding of CEMS theory of operation

  • Evaluate and direct the testing of plant control system equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of four (4) years of distributed control systems (ABB-Harmony, GE Cimplicity, GE iFix, Siemens T3000 or related system) experience is required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Proven ability to lead people.

  • Good knowledge of basic principles of power generation and electrical principles.

  • Knowledge of networking protocols used in power generation i.e. Modbus, DNP is required.

  • Understanding of computer networking and cyber-security standard methodologies.

  • Understanding of PLC’s and programming Controls/Logic – Allen Bradley, ABB Symphony/Harmony or other ladder logic and block function logic..

  • Knowledge of distributed control systems (ABB-Harmony, GE Cimplicity, GE iFix, Siemens T3000) including boiler tuning principles, process loop tuning, burner management controls and instrumentation specification, installation, calibration and commissioning is required.
