Job Summary

This posting is for a single position, to be filled based on the candidate's experience, skills, and abilities. This role involves creating, instructing, and evaluating technical training for Dominion Energy’s Distribution and Transmission switch operator training programs. The candidate should have expertise in electric grid operations and monitoring, transmission and distribution device switching and oversight. They will act as a subject matter expert in areas such as distribution, transmission, substation switch operations, and regional switching procedures, safety protocols, and work methods. Responsibilities also include consulting with business partners to define and document work processes, staying updated on regulatory changes, and assessing their impact on policies and training. Additional duties may be assigned.

This position is located in Chester, VA. Relocation assistance may be offered to the successful candidate.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience required for entry into this job include the following:

Instructor Level:3+ years of experience plus a Bachelor’s degree, or 5+ years of experience plus an Associate's Degree, or 7+ years of experience plus a High School Diploma/GED

Senior Instructor Level: 5+ years of experience plus a Bachelor's Degree, or 7+ years of experience plus an Associate's Degree, or 9+ years of experience plus a High School Diploma/GED

The required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience for this position include:

  • Must have obtained the switching supervisor credentials

  • Distribution & Transmission line and substation knowledge

  • Distribution and/or Transmission switching experience

  • Electric transmission and distribution operating center experience.

  • In-depth subject matter expertise in technical area of instruction

  • Thorough understanding of business processes related to Distribution & Transmission switching

  • In depth knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design

  • Proficiency in equipment operation/troubleshooting

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent personal computer skills

  • Competency in using software applications critical to target audience

  • Excellent problem solving skills

  • Excellent time management skills

  • Good coaching skills

  • Ability to work well with minimal supervision

  • Ability to analyze job tasks and develop training materials

  • Ability to train and lead others

  • Ability to interface with regulatory personnel and industry peers

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

Bachelor

Preferred Discipline: Education

Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred disciplines(s) listed above.

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

Graduate of related Dominion Development Program preferred North Anna and Surry must meet ANS 3.1 12/79, Section 4.4.7.2. Candidates for Sr Instructor positions in Nuclear at Innsbrook must meet ANSI/ANS 3.1 1993, Section 4.5.4
