The 12-week NiSource Internship program starting May 18th, is a multi-faceted development experience that provides our interns with challenging and meaningful work that impacts the communities we serve. As a NiSource intern, you will have the opportunity to learn from senior leadership and build professional relationships with employees across our company. The NiSource Internship program also incorporates workshops to learn about NiSource, the energy industry and infuses learning and development opportunities that sharpen your professional skills. The robust program will aid in building the fundamentals needed to enter the energy workforce upon graduation.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Incumbent is required to be a full/part time student at an accredited university or college.

  • Assists with public relations projects and programs, including charitable giving campaigns and community volunteer events.

  • Serves as brand ambassador at targeted community events to promote core company messages across the Columbia Gas of Virginia service territory. (ex. energy efficiency, safe digging, energy assistance, renewable energyeducations, career opportunities etc.)

  • Updates community stakeholder lists.

  • Develops news content related to community events and engagement for internal communications intranet (MySource) and internet (NIPSCO.com) including photo and video.

  • Supports social media activity.

  • Research and identify opportunities to further engage in our communities and extend our outreach to customers across the Columbia Gas of Ohio service territory.

  • Develop strategy to track Columbia Gas of Ohio’s community engagement efforts and measure outreach.

  • Work with Communications to develop strategy to share our community engagement efforts with internal and external stakeholders.

Required Qualifications for Position

  • A journalism, public relations, communications or related undergraduate path with strong writing and organizational skills.

  • Willingto travel throughoutthe Columbia Gas of Ohio service territory to attend and support events.

  • Must be a rising junior or senior.

  • A self-starter, able manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of communications, public relations, planning, implementation and evaluation desirable.

  • Authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship.

Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position

  • Intermediate skill level with Adobe Suite (Photoshop specifically)

  • Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Teams and other Microsoft programs (specifically Excel)

  • Photography, videography or editing background

$17.20 - $27.80
