Must have completed at least 30 hours of college coursework
Maintain a GPA of 2.75 or higher
Currently enrolled as a full time student
Have reached the age of 18 years old
May be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance based on position, access requirements and essential job functions

The intern will develop an understanding of their assigned Engineering business unit, as it relates to its functional purpose and will learn standard work, strategies, philosphies, programs, and initiatives within the organization.
Engineering Business Units where the intern could be assigned include, but are not limited to the following:
Power Operations & Generation Power & Fleet Services-Power Operations consist of three generating technologies – Coal, Gas and Hydro, as well as the Generation Services functions. Our organization is driven to operational excellence by continually improving our processes. Our overall objective is to provide our customers with reliable, lowest cost, clean energy with a strong focus on safety and environmental compliance. All areas provides services necessary to support generating facilities in providing clean, safe, low-cost and reliable power for the Tennessee Valley
Transmission-Safely operates TVA's power grid so our customers receive reliable, low-cost power, while also sustaining the reliability of the Eastern Interconnect. We plan, design, build, operate, and maintain TVA's transmission system to move megawatts in a safe, reliable, compliant and cost-effective manner
Nuclear-Operates 7 nuclear units at three sites in Tennessee and North Alabama. Together, these facilities are ran by 3,500 employees and can generate about 7,800 megawatts. TVA’s nuclear plants generate about 45% of the electricity for our customers of the TN Valley. From the skilled craftsman to the engineering professional to the licensed nuclear operators, our three plants provide reliable power to the grid 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Nuclear energy is an important part of our energy mix and it's our nation's largest source of carbon-free electricity (green, environmentally-friendly).
Example duties include:
Become familiar with the TVA business, organization, key decision makers, engineering processes and procedures. The intern will have the opportunity to interact with leaders and team members while learning the key components that drive their business unit’s strategic direction.
Develop working knowledge of critical engineering functions as outlined by the intern’s manager and business unit.
Learn to apply policies and procedures across the organizations: recommend continuous improvement changes in support of business needs and proactively develop an understanding of policies, procedures, and culture and communcate these to new and existing employees.
Seeking majors in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Occupational Health & Safety or other similar closely related majors
Position Locations: Positions are located throughout the TN Valley region. No virtual work options .
