Position Summary:

This position serves as the subject matter expert responsible for the configuration, management, and support of all physical security technology deployed across the Duke Energy Corporate Enterprise. This role requires advanced expertise in Physical Access Control Systems (PACS) and Video Management Systems (VMS), along with strong skills in system configuration, integration and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily security program operations support. In addition to work in first column, this would also include monitoring system availability and identify issue or failures. Problem resolution including determining root cause, resolution through programming, onsite evaluation, or through manufacturer representative contact or, by assisting IT teams as required. May also require resolution or adjudication of matters by working with other Enterprise Protective Services groups, or with HR or Legal as needed. Position serves as the enterprise technical expert on security system technology operational related matters. Manage enterprise physical information management system through programming new installations, modifying existing facilities, creating and deleting sensor information, generating reports and, assisting Security Coordinators during investigative efforts when necessary. Provide expert interpretation of cultivated data.

  • Provide project support and complete work tasks assigned by security technology development or implementation projects. In addition to expectations in the two prior columns, simultaneously manage many small or multiple large projects of various duration involving direct contact with various Enterprise Protective Services disciplines, IT, end users, and partner integrators and/or software vendors. Responsible for the approval of electronic security system designs on major construction projects including all office towers, administration facilities, operations centers, generating facilities, etc. Functions as the technical expert and internal consultant, which ensures the proper liaison with all installation personnel and structural/electrical engineers/architects, on major projects. Prepare and present to management on project status.

  • Complete basic administrative tasks such as time reporting, status updates, etc., to support administrative, safety, or other management program execution.

  • Responsible for the research of security related technologies and formulating recommendations of new security equipment and applications for incorporation into the enterprise environment including recommendations to accommodate regulatory requirements. Also responsible for ensuring training is developed and presented to operators as it relates to new technologies deployed.

Required/Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree

  • 3 years related work experience

  • In lieu of Bachelors degree(s) AND 3 year(s) related work experience listed above, High School/GED AND 10 year(s) related work experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Technology

  • Certified Protection Professional and/or Physical Security Professional

  • Ability to professionally interact with, and present to, all levels of internal and external personnel.

  • Superior written and oral communication skills.

  • Proven leadership skills.

  • Strategic in nature with tactical abilities.

  • Excellent collaborator.

  • Flexible.

  • Technical expertise in the areas of PSIM, CCTV/digital recording system, access control systems, intrusion detection applications and system integration.

  • Advanced knowledge of security systems basis of design concepts and specifications.

Working Conditions:

  • Hybrid Mobility Classification – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to a Duke Energy facility.

  • Extended hours during periods of security risk and/or regulatory compliance events or during periods of heightened security threats

  • After hours availability
