The IT Associate Program is Duke Energy's premier leadership and technical development program for innovative college graduates seeking a dynamic career in a variety of IT functions at the country's largest electric power holding company.

This entry level rotational program, which has proven to be a bedrock of our department over its ten plus year life, is designed to be a talent pipeline for new employees with potential to be future leaders and technical experts in Duke Energy's Information Technology department. This program is intended for candidates who are preparing to graduate or have recently graduated with a Bachelor's Degree as well as have limited full-time work experience.

The program provides competitive experiences across a multitude of diverse IT environments that prepare participants to traverse into critical future roles. Each of the three, one-year assignments may take place in any or more of the following functional areas, which comprise over two hundred teams total – Application Delivery & Support, Infrastructure, Operations, Architecture, & Telecommunications, Nuclear Generation & Commercial, Business Planning & Relationship Management, Strategy & Governance, Project Management, Cyber Security & Compliance, Data, Analytics, Mobility, & Digital Transformation, and Customer Information Systems.

In these three rotations, IT Associates experience complex intellectual challenges, participate on and lead small-scale and large-scale initiatives, regularly interact with other members of the program, and gain practical, on-the-job experience in many of the business and technical areas that will set an entry level hire up for sustained success. Associates gain heightened familiarity with a compelling corporate culture and direct access to the highest level of leaders across the company. Basic/Required Qualifications

  • Minimum, cumulative GPA of 3.0

  • Recently graduated within the past two years or preparing to graduate in the next two semesters with a four year Bachelor’s degree

  • Enrolled in an IT or Engineering related major such as Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Software Information Systems, Information Technology, Information Science, Computer Engineering, and Electrical Engineering

  • Between 0-2 years of full time IT or Engineering work experience

  • Most recent unofficial transcripts attached to application

Desired Qualifications

  • Exposure to or familiarity with computer networking, application development and support, information security, operating systems, database administration, business analysis, project management

  • Willingness and desire to rotate to, as well as an ability to excel in, a variety of diverse roles

  • Professional, effective written and verbal communication skills, plus organizational ability

  • Previous IT or Engineering internship, co-op, or work experience

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting

  • Community service and volunteer experience

  • Self-driven, motivated, and proactive
