Framatome is seeking an Electrical Engineer I position to support projects at various locations in North America for our Specialty Engineering Division in Charlotte, NC.
Specialty Engineering is seeking an engineer to work on design and analysis for our nuclear power plant customers. Prospective candidate can expect to be in a fast paced environment with professionally challenging work, teamed together on high performing project teams who are quality, schedule and technically driven. This position is based out of the Charlotte NC offices, and routine travel to site will be required to support engineering meetings, deliverables and outages.
The Framatome Specialty Engineering Division provides design & analysis support, including technical specification input and overall Electrical design for installed base nuclear facility design projects, in addition to new builds and re-start projects.
Nuclear Plant modification/modernization projects including, detailed design drawings, equipment specifications and design change packages.
Technical areas include preparation of design modifications, calculations, engineering evaluations with activities involving the development of project proposals with equipment selection, specification development, budgeting, scheduling, and preparation of installation and testing instructions.
Studies and engineering evaluations detailing recommended and alternative technical approaches to resolve design related issues or to justify existing conditions.
Under direct supervision, performs standard engineering tasks utilizing established practices and procedures. Assignments may involve responsibility for planning and conducting a complete task or portion of a larger more diverse project under the direction of more experienced engineering personnel. This position requires candidate to follow applicable engineering procedures in order to align work processes with regulatory and customer requirements and to develop skills in order to ensure that the team/unit reaches required level of performance to meet project objectives.
This position will be responsible for:
Performing standard Electrical Engineering activities associated with nuclear power in the areas of design, development, analysis, evaluation, testing, execution of field tasks and resolution of field problems.
Preparation of engineering documents (specifications, drawings, conceptual designs and studies, analyses, and design change packages) in support of nuclear power design, operations and maintenance.
Interface with customer, construction organization and vendors / fabricators.
Ensuring compliance with government, organization and customer engineering standards.
Performing other related duties and tasks as required .
All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this Electrical Engineer opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.
BS, Electrical Engineering
0-2 years of engineering experience
Basic knowledge of engineering fundamentals as they relate to design and calculations.
Willingness to travel or accept site assignments
Must be highly motivated, proactive and willing to take on new assignments and challenges
Fundamental computer skills (Word, Excel, etc.)
Proactive attitude to problem identification and resolution
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent planning and organization skills.

MS in Electrical Engineering
Relevant Co-op/intern experience or previous engineering work-related experience
Having successfully passed the EIT/FE is a plus
Experience with ETAP software
Previous utility experience
Sporadic (up to 25%) domestic travel. Travel requirements and site assignments are based on the needs of the client.
