Alliant Energy Turbine Engineer or Generation Equipment Specialist in Cedar Rapids, Iowa
In this challenging role you will plan, direct, and implement large steam turbine, combustion turbine and generator outage maintenance and engineering projects in a safe and environmentally conscious manner.
This position will help develop and lead steam turbine, gas turbine, and generator maintenance strategies.
This team is responsible for the following: planning, scheduling, conducting major overhauls; planning and conducting large repetitive maintenance tasks; providing outage resource management; providing craft labor management and supervision; managing alliances.
Perform field inspections, field measurements and equipment walk downs, focusing on assessing Gas & Steam Turbines and associated equipment.
Recommend changes in procedures, equipment, or materials as necessary to maintain and improve turbine performance, reduce O&M costs, and increase reliability.

Alliant Energy is currently recruiting for an experienced Turbine Engineer II (this position may be filled at a higher level) or Generation Equipment Specialist, to support engineering operations at our Iowa Power Plants.
This position works within our Generation Engineering Department. This department is responsible for providing engineering services and support to the most critical function of our business, our Power Plants.
This position may be located in one of our Iowa power plants.
The job features a combination of office based work and power plant work.
This position may be filled at a higher level.
Travel required within our Iowa and Wisconsin territory.
Relocation funds are available.

Job Category:Power Plant Operations Job Qualifications: Education
A four year degree from a college or university, within an engineering program that is accredited through the Engineering Accreditation Commission is preferred.
A minimum of two years technical and/or professional experience is preferred. The successful candidates experience level will help determine the level of Engineer or Generation Equipment Specialist, they will start at.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the operation, maintenance and repair of generators, steam turbines or combustion turbines.
Knowledge of the GT component management, repair, metallurgical mechanical and NDT assessment including failure of GT components.
Project management skills, working knowledge of the electric and steam generation industry and any experience with power plant operations would be a plus
Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills - with an ability to communicate with a wide range of customers (engineers, plant management, finance, skilled laborers)
Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Working knowledge of AutoCad or similar programming is preferred.
Ability to work in a diverse work environment.
