Position Summary

Under general supervision, the Support Team Member I&C, is responsible for instrumentation and control maintenance activities, including execution of planned maintenance programs, performance of unplanned and emergency maintenance activities, and support of plant operations as required.

This position is represented by IBEW Local 1393.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for repair, renewal, troubleshooting, testing, calibration, and proper operation of all instrumentation and control systems, and instrumentation and control equipment in the plant

  • Implement the facility’s maintenance programs in the instrumentation and control equipment areas

  • Perform electrical and mechanical maintenance duties at the level of his/her ability, and perform other work as assigned

Working Conditions

  • The Support Team Member I&C works in a power plant/industrial environment that includes exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust and humidity. The job requires climbing ladders, entering vessels, and working in hard to reach and high places.

  • The Support Team Member I&C is required to travel to any assigned Duke Energy location and to be on call for emergencies.

Basic/Required Qualifications

  • Two year Associates Degree in electronics or the equivalent

  • Maintain a valid driver’s license to operate Company vehicles

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent

  • Working knowledge of generating systems and equipment

  • Working knowledge of electric systems, DCS, PLC, and turbine and generator controls

  • Working knowledge of environmental Continuous Emissions Monitoring (CEMS) Equipment

  • Demonstrated ability follow safety protocol and identify and report safety concerns

  • Demonstrated experience reading the various types of blueprints used in the power generation industry

  • Demonstrate experience and ability to effectively execute assigned tasks and work orders, both independently and as part of a team

Specific Requirements

  • Must successfully complete EEI's Power Plant Maintenance Selection System (MASS)

  • Must successfully complete a physical and respirator fit testing
