The Senior Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day activities related to safely performing all utility construction services required by our customers. The position includes broad geographic and customer responsibility – with a focus on safely leading the business, while attracting, training, and retaining the best talent in the industry. This position supports the Operations team and works with other team members, senior leadership, and personnel from all departments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the team to perform work safely.

  • Manage team to meet commitments on work completions and customer satisfaction.

  • Generate and control revenue and cost in order to deliver a profit for the corporation.

  • Accept full P&L responsibility for areas under his/her leadership.

  • Make staffing decisions, train new employees, and develop employee performance.

  • Prepare detailed construction cost estimates and documentation.

  • Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Technology or Engineering (or equivalent work history) is preferred

  • 10 years of utility construction experience.

  • Previous supervisory experience.

  • Experience managing P&L.

  • Experience managing projects to completion.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with team members and upper management.

  • Ability to read work prints.

  • Significant experience in underground cable/conduit placement, aerial cable placement, and team management (internal and external).

This job operates both in the field and in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, and scanners.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This position is primarily sedentary, with some filing or lifting required. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
