MidAmerican Energy Company Associate I & E Technician in Calipatria, California
The instrument and electrical technician is responsible for the safe, proper and efficient installation, operation, maintenance and repair of all instrumentation equipment, pressure transmitters, level transmitters, pressure switch and transmitters, control valves and turbine instrumentation and low voltage distribution systems at the operating facility. Overtime and shift work may be required. Work performed with supervision and direction from the instrument and electrical supervisor.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Function)
Install, repair and maintain instrument equipment such as pressure transmitters, level transmitters, pressure switch and transmitters, turbine instrumentation. (20%)
Coordinate instrument equipment installation activities with plant operations and maintenance personnel and vendor/manufacturer representatives. (20%)
Install new systems such as transmitters, run tubing, pull cable, terminate conductors, splice cable and wire circuits. (10%)
Assist with inspects, repairs, maintains and cleaning low voltage (600V) power distribution system components, motor control centers, switchgear and which may include transformers, circuit breakers, control switches, control and protective relay devices, switches, contactors and indicating lights. (10%)
Use test instruments for troubleshooting equipment/circuit malfunctions. (10%)
Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks. (10%)
Responsible for the adherence to all safety and environmental policies set forth by CalEnergy Operating Corporation. (10%)
Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (0-10%)
High school diploma or general education degree or certification program or equivalent education and two to five years related experience. Familiar with basic computer operations.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, procedure manuals, regulations and process and instrument diagrams. Ability to write routine reports and work completed on work orders. Ability to speak effectively, use acceptable telephone and radio etiquette necessary to communicate needed responses.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percentage, draw and interpret bar graphs.
Effective analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in a mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Effective ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
A valid California state driver's license is required.
