As the Director Environment Operations , this position provides vision, strategic leadership and management oversight of the conceptualization, integration and implementation of enterprise-wide, environmental protection, monitoring, compliance and remediation policies, practices and execution for ongoing Operations.

What you will do:

This includes, but is not limited to, providing broad and deep senior management expertise in order to deliver oversight and leadership of the following through a Management team:

  • Own, coordinate and execute on the organizational wide integrated management system Environmental Protection Program to ensure strong business support, assurance and governance.

  • Solidify near real time reporting and auditable assurance for air emissions as required based on evolving security exchange commission Environmental, Social and Governance requirements.

  • Implement improved systems, processes and controls to ensure environmental compliance is achieved.

  • Improve strategic relationships with key partners (regulators, first nations, landowners) who are impacted by environmental related matters.

  • Oversee the resourcing/coaching/mentoring/motivating of direct and indirect reports in the fulfillment of program objectives

  • Providing mentorship to the Management teams, e.g., frame issues, tackle problems, advise on progress, solicit input, encourage and influence.

Who you are:

  • University graduate and certification in an applicable field.

  • 15 years of multifaceted experience.

  • 10 years of experience at the Manager or Director level in sophisticated multi-jurisdictional operations and project environments is preferred.

  • Relationship management to strategically navigate opposing interests.

  • Ability to communicate complex technical environmental problems to non-technical individuals.

  • Strategic vision to develop and execute on solutions to complex environmental challenges that align with our business model.

  • Validated experience in a leadership position managing Leaders in a team-focused approach.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to connect and inspire change in a dynamic and fast paced environment.

  • Proficiency and communications skills related to leading and acting independently as a member of the Safety and Reliability management team, coupled with outstanding negotiation and influencing capabilities.

  • High work ethic and able to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic, and sometimes ambiguous setting.

  • Flexibility to adapt to frequent shifts in priorities and schedules.

Working Conditions:

  • Office based.

  • 30-50% travel to field locations, including on-site operational incidents.

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

  • Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.

Mental Requirements (Both Field & Office) include but are not limited to:

  • Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
