About this position:
The engineer plans, reviews and documents testing and maintenance of substation/relay equipment for the safe and reliable operation of electric transmission, distribution, and generation facilities. Responsible for managing the NERC and WECC compliance testing programs.

About this job:
Project management - adhering to scope, schedule, and budget for protective relay projects.
Develop, or Modify protective relay test procedures that meet the NERC/WECC requirements
Ensure Substation Operations performs all required regulatory compliance work
Maintain and develop compliance records management applications
Maintain and develop testing applications
Review the results of the relay tests and document solutions for failed results
Assure all testing procedures and test results are documented for regulatory/internal audits
Support the Substation/Relay Operations Management team with the following:
Development and execution of annual maintenance/testing plans
Reporting current status of maintenance/test plans
Coordinate with the Company's Manager of NERC Compliance for:
Regulatory audit requests, and annual compliance progress
Coordinate Shop and Field testing with Technicians
Promote a spirit of teamwork within the department and with other departments to achieve the objectives necessary for optimum reliability
Promote the use of safe work practices in the design, construction, and maintenance of facilities.
Overnight travel up to 30%
Majority of job is performed in an office environment mostly sitting, with occasional lifting of office materials weighing up to 50 pounds

Demonstrate and maintain a good safety record
Must possess strong interpersonal communication skills
BS in electrical engineering or other engineering field is required
A strong understanding of electric power systems, electrical circuit analysis, and a general understanding of microprocessor based equipment and logic design is desirable
Experience working with database applications is desirable
Must be able to work closely with other individuals and cooperate with other departments
Self motivated and positive outlook
Good communication, analytical, organizational, and planning skills are required
Working knowledge of the NERC and WECC Guidelines is desirable
