SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION
The Dev Ops Technologist will be a member of the Dev Ops and Analytics Team. This position requires innovative thinking, programming experience, analytical aptitude, and business acumen skills. The successful candidate will work in a team environment to support integration technology, enterprise application development, monitoring application, and other complex systems.
The successful candidate must be a self-starter who pursues self-education, is customer focused, supports the organization's goals, values and culture, and is willing to work extended hours as necessary. Participation in an on-call rotation schedule is required. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to travel with a laptop computer and other necessary peripherals. The expectation is that, if hired, the employee will take laptop home each night for system support and disaster recovery purposes.
DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

DEV OPS TECHNOLOGIST
Understand and execute principles, theories, concepts, and techniques related to Enterprise Data platforms, Windows Client/Server applications, Web Development and Enterprise application development
Support Monitoring application and administer Middleware/Enterprise Service Bus (ESB).
Development work is completed collaboratively using tools such as SAP ABAP workbench and other enterprise development tools, IIB Developer toolkit, and PowerShell script for administrative tasks
Prototype, evaluate, develop, test, deploy, and maintain applications, enhancements, interfaces, extracts, queries, reports, scripts, and programs in a multifaceted, integrated environment
Comply with coding standards and utilize common source code repository
Work with vendors and colleagues to research, plan, test, and implement patches, releases, and upgrades
Develop and maintain technical, process, and training documentation
Contribute to the development of new processes and resolve complex technical matters
Interact with stakeholders to identify problems, needs, opportunities for improvement, and functional requirements
Model the requirements in an organized manner; manage and communicate those requirements throughout the project or process improvement life cycle
Effectively and efficiently organize, plan, execute and coordinate multiple work assignments to meet project milestones or established completion dates
Utilize established project management documents such as scope, assumptions, risks
Firm understanding of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process
GENERAL BUSINESS TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT
Adhere to NorthWestern Energy's Professional Knowledge Worker Competencies
Comply with NorthWestern Energy's internal controls, policies, practices, procedures and standards
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Work with other BT staff on projects and troubleshooting problems
Understanding of network infrastructure, including all layers of the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) Model
Understanding of the Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability (CIA) Triad
Undertake projects involving multiple disciplines that may impact multiple business units
Bachelor's degree from four-year accredited college in associated discipline such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Business and Information Technology. An equivalent combination of education and related experience may also be considered
Technical Experience and Skills
Experience with common programming languages
Working knowledge of common databases
Proficient using various project software tools such as Microsoft Project, Excel and Visio
Working knowledge of Windows Operating Systems and Microsoft Desktop Applications
Must be of the highest character
Must be able to develop positive colleague, team, and leadership relationships to facilitate Business Technology (BT) business partnerships
Must be able to work in a team environment and adapt to changing responsibilities and priorities
Must be able to continually learn and enhance technical skills and knowledge
Must have strong organization skills to coordinate workload and individual development

Must have strong troubleshooting and documentation skills
Occasional travel will be required (day trips and overnight)
May be required to serve in an on-call rotation

Stand, sit and use hands to type, finger, handle or feel will be required more than 2/3 of the time as well as being able to talk or hear over 2/3 of the time.
Lift up to 10 pounds and up to 40 pounds occasionally
Perform safe driving in varying conditions
Travel with a laptop computer and other necessary training peripherals
Take laptop home each night for disaster recovery purposes
Use office equipment properly
Troubleshoot complex technical issues
