NextEra Energy Pipeline Services is looking for an exceptional Pipeline Technician Leader to lead the operations and maintenance of the Lowman Compressor Station and pipeline located in Butler, Alabama. Preferred candidate will have previous experience with operation and maintenance of natural gas compressor stations and pipelines.

Job Overview

This position is responsible for the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of oil and natural gas pipelines, oil terminals, compressor stations, and remote valve and metering locations. Employees in this role are the first line of guidance (working leader) for technicians who perform Operations and Maintenance activities on all pipeline and terminal assets. Individuals direct the daily activities of all other production technicians assigned to the site.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Directs technicians in the safe execution of daily pipeline/terminal operations and maintenance to include: inspection of watch, preventative maintenance, reliability checks, Right of Way inspections, and One Call locates

  • Manages in accordance with established processes

  • Participates in the development of Operations and Maintenance procedures, site specific procedure, project scopes and work plans

  • Provides site safety leadership including development of job safety plans, leading tailboard discussions, performing field observations of work, Lock-Out/Tag-Out execution and auditing

  • Ensures that all requirements of the Operator Qualification (OQ) Program are maintained by site technicians - including training, evaluation, and documentation

  • Serves as verifier of skills for OQ tasks

  • Ensures all activities are performed and documented in compliance with Company standards, as well as Federal, State and Local regulatory entities: DOT, EPA, PHMSA, USCG, etc.

  • Represents the Company during any inspections or audits

  • Prioritizes and identifies work, plans work, and procures materials and/or services

  • Acts as a leader for root cause identification along with the development and implementation of sustainable countermeasures, as well as identifying other continuous improvement opportunities

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad / GED

  • Experience: 5+ years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
