JOB TITLE: Engineering Tech REQUISITION: SAF003I DEPARTMENT: T&S Document Management – F&M Manchester Service Center LOCATION: Kansas City, MO PAY RANGE: Engineering Tech I: $52,000 - $65,000 Engineering Tech II: $63,600 - $79,500 Sr Engineering Tech: $72,000 - $96,000 Lead Engineering Tech: $84,800 - $113,000

Scheduled Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (other hours as required).

Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities: This position provides document management support for Substation and Transmission Engineering. Under the direction of the Manager, Engineering Support, track documents and assist engineers through various stages of design and complete AutoCAD revisions as necessary. Documents include internal drawings, external vendor files, equipment test reports, engineering calculations and supporting documents. Liaison between work groups including Substation Protection & Control, Substation Physical Design, Transmission Line, Distribution, and field personnel who construct or maintain company facilities. Under minimal direction, gather technical information and up-to-date drawings necessary for various projects. The Lead will engage the local team to develop solutions, refine processes and write detailed procedures while providing direct technical support for the team and our customers.

With oversight from engineers: * Seek enhancements to methods and systems for sharing information such as the status of issued for construction packages, updates to one-line drawings, notifications to stake-holders and reminders to Field Drawing Stewards that serve to improve the collection of as-built drawings after construction * Liaison with consultants and contractors to coordinate their assistance on projects * Support the implementation and development of 3D models * Develop an understanding of Document Management system licensing and access requirements * Provide document management training to relay techs, engineers and contractors * Create and update complex Issued for Construction (IFC) drawing packages * Create new IFC items with linked documents in Vault and create URLs in SharePoint * Digitize paper redline drawings to integrate and promptly publish the as-built changes * Create, refine and update document management procedures in SharePoint * Develop design for new or retrofit panel layouts for P&C and physical design projects * Generate drawings based on one-line and substation standards drawings * Perform on-site substation verification of field drawings and digital drawings in Vault * Improve the collection of as-built drawings after construction.

Education and Experience: The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology or a related field. Experience may substitute for a portion of the education requirement. Prefer three or more years of experience in Autodesk products, Power System design and document management.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Prefer extensive knowledge of Electric Power systems including Substation and/or Transmission facilities and company standards. Excellent customer service and public relations skills required. The position will require work in unrelated processes and methods and requires constructive thinking to analyze, interpret, or evaluate issues to a prompt resolution and work within short time frames. Necessary skills include math, planning, organizing, prioritizing and team building. Successful candidate must be personal computer fluent with a high proficiency in MS office suite and applicable engineering software. Must exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills to accomplish coordination between internal departments and external engineering consultant firms. Applicant must be a highly motivated self starter with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in an ever-changing environment. Must have the ability to handle stressful situations appropriately. Must be an effective project manager. Prefer familiarity with database and Autodesk products.

Licenses, Certification, Bonding, and/or Testing: A valid driver’s license is required.

Working Conditions: Office conditions with continual visual attention to performing work with a high degree completeness, accuracy and quality. Occasional travel is required. Position requires work beyond normal working hours depending on workload, project deadlines, and service restoration efforts. Must have a satisfactory work record including excellent attendance.
