*POSITION SUMMARY

*

This senior technical position will be a recognized expert in project management in Engineering Projects and will be responsible for managing cost, scope, schedule, risk and implementation for assigned major projects. The assigned projects may involve large expenditures, multiple vendor contracts, complex problem solving, technical consultation, contractor oversight, design input, planning, field implementation, stakeholder engagement, detailed project documentation preparation using fundamental project management techniques. This position will act as a consultant to the rest of the company on project management.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead diverse teams of in-house and contract personnel in all phases of a major project while having ultimate responsibility for controlling approved scope, cost, and schedule of assigned projects. Facilitate project teams to fully identify and mitigate/prevent project risks.

Apply standard project management practices and techniques in specific situations, adjust and correct to changing requirements, and recognize discrepancies in results to ensure completion of the project while in compliance with policies, procedures and regulatory commitments and requirements.

Make authoritative decisions and recommendations that have a direct impact on complex engineering and project situations and problems to ensure that plant and related activities are operating to the greatest capacity. Assemble required site and external expertise to collaborate on and resolve key technical/commercial issues that arise during any phase of a project.

Develop project cost estimates to support annual company budget process timelines. Actively work with project team and stakeholder to routinely track and control actual costs within the approved budget. Take proactive actions to maintain costs within budget while meeting project scope and deliverables. Work within the approved processes to obtain reserve funding when budget shortfalls are forecast.

Develop and maintain detailed project documents, plans, progress reports, risk registers, performance indicators in accordance with plant project management procedures and processes.

Perform all aspects of contract bidding, technical and/or commercial evaluation, award, oversight of deliverables, contract compliance and closeout of all service/material procurements required for assigned projects.

Perform advisory and consulting functions for the corporation as a recognized authority for complex projects.

Perform other duties as assigned by management.

REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

The Engineering Project Manager requires a Bachelor of Science degree and eight years relevant experience or 15 years of relevant experience, with at least 2 years of experience in project management, construction management or direct supervision of technical or craft personnel at an operating nuclear power plant.

The Senior Engineering Project Manager requires a Bachelor of Science degree and 15 years of relevant experience or 20 years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years of project management or construction management experience at an operating nuclear power plant.

Relevant experience is defined as professional level experience at an operating nuclear power plant in project management, construction or maintenance management, nuclear operations, engineering, project controls or project engineering.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION

A Kansas Professional Engineer License or an RO/SRO license, and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate and 2 years of project management experience are preferred for the Engineering Project Manager.

A Kansas Professional Engineer License or an SRO license, and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate and 5 years of project management experience are preferred for the Senior Engineering Project Manager
