Job Purpose

To lead and support key stakeholders in the Electric and Gas Contributions in Aid of Construction (CIAC) process, including complex project estimation, policy interpretation, financial analysis, cost reporting and end-to-end process improvements.

Key Accountabilities

  • Act as the primary point of contact within Utility Services Analysis and Support for complex project estimation, policy interpretation, accumulation of project cost details and reporting of financial information necessary to prepare project estimates, analyses, guidance and support to customers and key stakeholders.

  • Oversee and provide day-to-day support to other Utility Services Analysis and Support analysts, including providing training, addressing escalations, performing secondary reviews of estimation and financial analysis work products.

  • Develop subject matter expertise of applicable rules and regulations the Company operates under (i.e. tariffs).

  • Demonstrate proficiency in a wide variety of financial concepts necessary for interpreting data and performing complex financial analyses (ex. cost/benefit, finance, tax, cost accounting, revenue analysis, asset depreciation, etc.).

  • Demonstrate proficiency with the tools and systems used to gather the information necessary to accumulate and organize data used into appropriate outputs.

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with other business units (Connections, Account Management, Regulatory, Legal, Estimating, Operations, Accounting) in order to share best practices and challenge business decisions, as needed.

  • Promote and implement procedural best practices for customer request support in order to ensure all work practices are compliant with National Grid policies and regulatory requirements.

  • As a lead, role model National Grid values and behaviors, share best practices, help train new staff, recommend and help implement process improvements, support manager during short term absences, and be identified as SME for key processes and procedures.

Knowledge & Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, engineering or other related discipline, or equivalent work experience.

  • At least 5 years of experience within the utility industry in a finance, accounting, estimation, or regulatory role absent bachelor’s degree.

  • Demonstrate technical aptitude.

  • Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to apply consultation procedures and negotiation skills using visual aids, data or information to support line of reasoning.

  • Demonstrates a consistent approach in dealing with people and taking personal responsibility for addressing problems.

  • Possesses solid understanding of National Grid’s electric and gas business, policies, tariffs and cost accounting methodologies.

  • Possesses proficiency in National Grid systems (STORMS, SAP, GIS, PowerPlan, CSS)

Upstate NY Salary

$110,000 - $129,000 a year

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
