National Grid Ventures is hiring a Project Manager, Competitive Transmission. The hybrid role can be located in our Brooklyn, NY, Boston, MA or Waltham, MA office.
Job Purpose
National Grid Ventures is hiring a strategic, collaborative leader who will be a driver of success in its fast-growing competitive transmission business. At NGV you will be a part of a dynamic and expanding team where developing critical energy infrastructure solutions, building strong working relationships, and taking a hands-on approach to problem solving and decision making are an integral part of your daily work.
In this mission-critical role you will manage a team working cross-functionally to develop comprehensive bids – competing on cost, technical viability, and development feasibility, among other factors – to secure awards for competitive transmission projects across the US. Your team will work with Development and Technical teams to design winning bid solutions and orchestrate the project team to successfully deliver bids. Following award, your team will take the lead on the delivery of these major projects.
You will apply your leadership, management, commercial, and technical expertise and harness the expertise of the project team and global functions. The ideal candidate will have exceptional project management skills, a refined strategy toolkit, a track record of collaborating across functions and borders, strong commercial acumen, leadership and experience communicating with senior executives.
Key Accountabilities
• Coordinate preparation of bid deliverables and technical designs to quality standards in response to Requests for Proposals (RFP) for competitive electric transmission and power infrastructure across multiple ISOs.
• Manage workstreams, consultants, contractors, and team resources to deliver projects on time and within budget, with an emphasis on team integration that brings internal and external resources together under a single team dynamic and environment.
• Lead the integration and interfacing of cross-functional teams and processes to ensure collaboration and alignment across all project phases; Support effective communication and coordination among technical and commercial workstreams to achieve project objectives and deliverables while optimizing resource utilization and budgets
• Identify areas for further improvement
• Maintain strong relationships with internal and external parties
Qualifications
• Minimum: Bachelor’s degree and advanced post-graduate degree (M. Eng, MSE, MBA) preferred and 5-7+ years of relevant work experience in transmission infrastructure developments, policies and/or energy industry, leading large complex projects
• Project Management and certifications in Project Management (i.e. PMP) preferred.
• Engineering experience and a relevant certification (e.g., PE) a strong plus
• Experience developing and/or constructing electric transmission projects
• Detail-oriented, quantitative & analytical skills, team-player, with solid communication skills
• Advanced writing/power point story-telling skills highly desirable

Salary
New England MA $150,000 - $176,000 a year
Downstate NY $161,000 - $189,000 a year
This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
