Job Summary

Dominion Energy, one of the nation’s largest producers of energy, is seeking a detailed oriented, highly motivated and innovative rising sophomore or rising junior, with a basic knowledge of Microsoft Base Tools such as SQL, Reporting, Excel, etc., C#-C Sharp, .Net, Perl for a 2019 summer internship. Working with IT professionals you will enhance your education while learning, and working on a vendor based/support application (Supervisory Control Data Acquisition System or “SCADA”) with front end development for our SCADA applications.

This internship is specifically designed for a student with an anticipated graduation date between December 2020 and May 2021. If you would like to gain valuable work experience and have a desire to work on a vendor based/supported application system in a corporate environment, please consider spending your summer at Dominion Energy. An intern housing stipend may be available (conditions apply).

As an intern, you will work out of our beautiful White Oaks office, conveniently located just off of Interstate 79, Exit 124 in the White Oaks Business Park. During your internship at Dominion Energy you will interact with the Software Systems team to:

  • Learn and gain an better understanding of vendor based/supported applications used in a corporate environment;

  • Gain hands- on IT work experience and expand your knowledge as you apply basic IT development tools, and learn new applications;

Be actively engaged in challenging work that applies front end development tools and testing methodologies and apply them to real world business applications

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • Must currently be enrolled in a 4 year accredited college or university degreed program in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related course of study with a minimum GPA of 2.5.

  • Students should have an anticipated graduation date between December 2020 and May 2021.

  • Must possess an understanding of basic computer principles and practices.

  • Possess a basic knowledge of Microsoft Based Tools such as SQL, Reporting, and Excel, with knowledge of C# - C Sharp, .Net, Perl preferred.

  • Ability to read and understand basic technical specifications;

  • Ability to evaluate problems and make sound decisions;

  • Possess basic analytical and conceptual thinking;

  • Proficiency in basic computer software (Microsoft Office Suite) required.
