Idaho Power — located in vibrant Boise, Idaho — is looking for an Key Account Energy Advisor to join our Customer Operations team. It’s an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. What does a Key Account Energy Advisor do for us?
This individual operates as an energy advisor providing customer solutions and technical expertise to resolve complex and sensitive issues for assigned large commercial, industrial, special contract, and strategic customers. They will proactively develop, build, and maintain strong relationships with customer as their trusted advisor. They will maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and is highly effective in two-way communication, problem resolution, negotiation, with advocacy and influence on behalf of the company.

A COMPETITIVE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE
Knowledge of:
Idaho Power Company business priorities, rules, regulations, and rates
Electrical facilities operating and protection equipment
Electrical systems and equipment in large commercial and industrial applications pertaining to energy delivery equipment
Electrical utility distribution and transmission operations practices and procedures
Metering practices, and requirements
Power quality issues and mitigation options
Economic development initiatives and new large load process
HVAC systems, heat loss/gain, lighting, pumps, and motors
Sales techniques and selling process
Preferred:
- HVAC systems, heat loss/gain, lighting, pumps, and motors
Skills in:
Project Coordination, public speaking, presentation, and negotiation
Customer-focused listening and interpersonal communication
Personal computers and related software applications including Microsoft Office
Preferred:
- Sales techniques
Ability to:
Facilitate projects
Read architectural plans, plat maps, feeder maps, and work order maps
Explain and interpret Company rules, regulations, and rates in detail
Communicate effectively with various customer and management levels, including engineers and managers as well as corporate officers
Work as a team member with all Company departments
Be flexible and creative in approaching job duties
Initiate action independently as needed with planning & organizing abilities leading to effective recommendations and decision making
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- Bachelor's degree
OR
- An equivalent combination of formal education and experience
Preferred:
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in Business, Marketing, Communication, Engineering, or related field
Experience:
- 5 years of customer contact experience with demonstrated experience in marketing or relationship/account management
Preferred:
10 years of experience in sales, marketing, customer service, or technical field related to utility/energy operations
Experience in communication and negotiations
Licenses & Certifications:
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Job requires the ability to occasionally bend, stoop and squat, ascend / descend stairs, ladders, climb in to and out of vehicles, twist, kneel, balance and ready; rarely crawl. Rarely lift 10 lbs. shoulder height and above; rarely lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. waist or knee high; rarely use exertional force less than 50 lbs.; occasionally use two hands to carry items weighing up to 50 lbs., and one hand to carry items weighing up to 25 lbs. Frequent grasping and using fine hand manipulation for small hand tools, driving, computer keyboard. Must be able to withstand confined spaces. Applicant must be able to perform the essential functions of the job without posing a direct threat of harm to self, others, or property.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Job requires occasional travel with overnight stays and the ability to provide safe reliable transportation. Position requires evening and weekend work representing the Company responding to critical customer outages or issues. Key Account Energy Advisors, or an assigned team member, will be required to respond to outages impacting their customers on a 24/7 basis. In addition, job may require the ability to climb ladders and work in confined spaces at commercial and industrial buildings; and perform the essential functions of the position without posing a direct threat of harm to self, others, or property.
