Overview

PPL Electric Utilities is seeking all levels of engineering personnel to join our growing team and help us power energy forward. Opportunities are available throughout the Transmission, Substation and Distribution teams, ranging from system planning through commissioning. These positions offer opportunities to perform, under supervision, challenging engineering work in a constructive team environment within the energy industry. Specific job responsibilities will depend on the position.

  • Asset Management/Standards Engineering is responsible for the future strategy of our grid, one of the most complex systems in the world. The group analyzes, strategizes, standardizes and develops the components and projects that improve the safety and reliability of the grid.

  • Design/Project Engineering is responsible for the delivery of high-quality design packages, completed both internally and by contractors, for our construction teams. They are responsible for designing Transmission Lines and Substations of the future.

  • Reliability Engineering is responsible for our customers’ reliability and power quality of electric service.  They achieve these goals by investigating circuit improvements, troubleshooting problems, and managing our failed equipment while providing customers and crews with technical support.  The departments’ tasks have them work in the office analyzing and collaborating as well as in the field diagnosing issues, reviewing circuits and providing onsite guidance.

This position has the option to be hybrid or full time in-office , with 3 days/week in the office required. PPL Electric Utilities has multiple locations across northeast and central Pennsylvania.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the work on engineering projects using existing procedures to investigate, evaluate and assist in producing technically correct and cost-effective designs and solutions.

  • Build relationships to facilitate knowledge transfer, build cross functional knowledge of related work groups, and present work products effectively.

  • Gather and correlate basic data using engineering procedures, which may include routine and diagnostic testing of components and systems, and engineering studies.

  • Take initiative to continually expand and improve technical and business skill sets with instruction, guidance, and direction from others.

  • Assist in a variety of engineering and business initiatives, including developing innovative procedures, improved design recommendations or new or better equipment purchase recommendations.

Qualifications

Engineer I:

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology from a college or university. The discipline required will vary by the specific job requirements.

Engineer II:

  • All Engineer I requirements, with a minimum of two years related experience. In lieu of degree, applicants who have PE license in the state of Pennsylvania will be considered. Experience in the energy industry and a

  • Professional Engineer licensed in the state of Pennsylvania are preferred.

As a Engineer I

  • All Engineer I and Engineer II requirements, with a minimum of five years related experience and working knowledge of utility industry and regulations. In lieu of degree, applicants who have PE license in the state of Pennsylvania will be considered.

  • A Professional Engineer licensed in the state of Pennsylvania are preferred.

PpSe

Engineer I:

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology from a college or university. The discipline required will vary by the specific job requirements.

Remote Work
