Summary

This position is responsible for directing Tier II and III level support to end users for the desktop environment throughout the assigned regions while providing guidance, supervision and direction to the PC/LAN Analysts team. The Supervisor is responsible for directing the evaluation and testing by the PC/LAN Analysts team of new hardware and software as technologies evolve. The Supervisor is also responsible for the implementation, administration and support of business applications.

Duties and Responsibilities

Providing leadership, supervision, development and support for the regional PC/LAN Analysts team

Providing technical direction to the PC/LAN Analysts team in collaboration with the group analyst, as well as participating with system integrators and contractors on the operation, imaging, deployment and support of PC’s, printers, laptops, scanners and other peripherals as assigned

Monitoring the PC/LAN Analysts team queue, document incidents and requests for support and follow through on their resolution through our issues tracking application along with overseeing the accuracy of the documentation and timely problem resolution

Reviewing and overseeing the development of procedures and assist with documenting those detailed solutions and procedures for knowledge base, training and reference in the PC/LAN SharePoint site

Supporting business unit-specific applications as required, and maintaining repository of accurate installation and configuration instructions under the direction of, and in collaboration with, the System Analyst

Analyzing problem history in collaboration with the Systems Analyst to determine ways to eliminate recurring problems or minimize their impact

Planning and coordinating the PC deployment in collaboration with the Systems Analyst and the regional PC/LAN Analyst team

Reviewing schedules, provided by the Systems Analyst, and following through on the deployment of applications and software updates using System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)

Providing supervision and direction to the regional PC/LAN Analyst team in the proper implementation and testing of hardware and software

Understanding and remaining current on the interaction between the network operating systems and PC operating systems and configurations with assistance from the System Analyst

Communicate effectively with the team by participating in regular status meetings and updating ticketing system/knowledge base with issues resolutions

Performing special projects of a non-routine nature at the direction of the Manager –End User Support

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of PC/LAN Analysts over a large geographic area while also working similar user issues

Required Education (certifications, licenses)

A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Math preferred. Equivalent experience in Information Systems may be accepted.

Comp TIA+ certification required

Network+ Certification, preferred

Microsoft Certified Profession (MCP) certification, MCSA Windows 7 or higher certification, preferred

Valid Driver’s License

Required knowledge, skill and abilities

Eight to ten years direct work-related experience required, including substantial working knowledge of PCs, PC applications, and PC setup options

Five years direct work-related experience with Microsoft products, including SCCM

In-depth understanding of network connectivity, cabling topologies, and communications software

Experience with Windows desktop and server operating systems, spreadsheet, word processing, email, and PC database software

Strong working knowledge of network architectures in relation to product evaluation, problem determination and component compatibility and working knowledge of communications between different environments/platforms

Experience with installation, diagnostics and testing of computer hardware and software

Mimimum three to four years direct supervisory experience

Requires good communication skills and the flexibility to work with users at all levels

Requires good judgment and organized methods in all facets of assigned duties. Requires sound judgment and decision-making skills to support the constantly changing computer environment

Physical demands, environment and schedule

Requires Normal Physical Stamina – works in office and field environments and routinely requires lifting computer hardware weighing up to 25 lbs.

Normal 40 Hours work week – with participation in an on-call rotation, including normal work hours, after hours and on weekends

Department coverage is 7am to 5pm with flexibility in schedules to allow for full coverage

Overtime and/or travel may be required
