We are looking for an experienced talent acquisition professional to support our talent needs for Alabama Power Company. The Recruiting Consultant will be responsible for full lifecycle recruiting to ensure a highly qualified diverse slate of talent is available to meet the talent needs of Alabama Power Company. The Recruiting Consultant will develop collaborative relationships and partner with Human Resource Business Partners, Hiring Managers, Military Recruiter, and Diversity Equity and Inclusion Consultants to provide recruiting & sourcing expertise, market related intelligence and counsel on a variety of recruiting issues to improve talent acquisition effectiveness. The Recruiting Consultant will develop comprehensive recruiting strategies along with candidate generation and closing of candidates. The Recruiting Consultant drives energy, passion, customer focus and delivers excellence at every level. You will be an expert in partnering & collaborating. You will drive excellence in yourself & adapting and driving for results. The ability to partner with others and work collaboratively is critical.

Major Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for recruiting & sourcing activities to ensure a highly qualified diverse slate of talent is available to fill openings.

  • Build strong relationships with hiring managers to ensure the ability to influence, guide and drive the recruiting process.

  • Develop collaborative relationships and partnering with HRBP’s and hiring managers to provide recruiting & sourcing expertise, market related intelligence and counsel on a variety of recruiting issues to improve talent acquisition effectiveness.

  • Effectively partner with hiring manager & HRBP’s to develop a deep understanding of assigned positions and business groups.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key business leaders across assigned businesses to ensure talent pipelines meets business needs.

  • Identify required skills & experience by conducting intake sessions on all positions.

  • Source, screen & present a qualified diverse slate of candidates to hiring managers.

  • Lead and collaborate on projects / reports related to ongoing recruitment initiatives as required.

  • Provide hiring managers with advice, training, and tools to create an effective hiring process and positive experience for the candidate.

  • Provides creativity, resourcefulness, initiative, and persistence in sourcing for hard to fill or unique positions.

  • Use various cost-effective sourcing strategies, such as online job boards, networking, resume mining, social networking and attending recruiting events to attract a diverse pipeline of candidates.

  • Participate and lead career awareness events such as career fairs, informational sessions and interview preparation programs with local community groups, and technical colleges.

  • Foster a positive, professional interviewing experience for candidates.

  • Deliver prompt follow up & feedback to candidates in the selection process.

  • Manage requisitions through ATS to ensure that hiring activity is documented according to OFCCP & AAP requirements.

Minimum Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s Degree (Human Resources, Business Administration, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field)


  • Minimum 3 years of Talent Acquisition experience

  • Talent Acquisition experience with demonstrated knowledge of strategic sourcing strategies including direct sourcing, selection techniques and diversity recruiting in addition to excellent consultative, strategic thinking, problem solving, influential and interpersonal skills

  • Prior work experience in a fast-paced environment with high volume transactions and management of multiple projects simultaneously

  • Demonstrated ability to engage, consult and partner with both external and internal clients

  • Experience working with computer-based tracking systems

  • Previous participation in college/university/technical school/community at-large recruiting event

Knowledge and Skills:

  • An expert level of knowledge in full lifecycle recruiting components including, but not limited to talent sourcing, assessing, applicant tracking, closing offer processes and relationship management.

  • Ability to launch and sustain talent pipeline programs through capturing key sourcing intelligence, effectively converting passive candidates, and utilizing diverse sourcing channels.

  • Ability to understand & interpret data, analyze trends and identify actionable insights.

  • Ability to influence and negotiate with business leaders.

  • Experience using an enterprise level applicant tracking system

  • Strong communication skills both written & verbal.

  • Effective at resolving problems by providing creative solutions.

  • Ability to handle & maintain confidential information.

  • Skilled at negotiation and delivering successful outcomes for all sides.

  • Expert in balancing multiple priorities, stakeholders, and work streams simultaneously.
