The Manager of Large Commercial & Industrial (LCLI) is a proven leader who can lead the growth efforts for the LCLI channel of Business Development across Spire AL, Gulf, & MS. The candidate will be responsible for leading a team of Business Development Representatives responsible for adding customers, volumes, and gross margin.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develops and maintains the annual strategic plan for the Large Commercial and Industrial Business Development channel
Clearly articulates and executes the strategic plan for margin growth, account management, and lead generation
Sets sales goals and expectations with team members
Gives feedback and ensures direct reports are fully engaged in executing the sales process
Assigns accounts and sales territories
Prepares and reviews proposals and economic analyses
Assists legal team with preparation of contract rate agreements, natural gas pipeline extensions and relocation
Manages the opportunity pipeline by leading the team in account management, surveying connected load, negotiating and ensuring compliance with contracts
Develops and maintains strong relationships with internal partners that support growth
Provides a high level of customer service to key accounts and trade partners
Uses Salesforce CRM to track key account activities and opportunities; monitors progress towards goals
Develops skilled account management professionals who build and support key customer relationships and aggressively pursue growth opportunities in the large commercial and industrial market
Develops usage and margin forecasts for assigned key accounts to plan for growth and expansion of the Company’s distribution system
Monitors competitive trends in the LCLI segments in the areas of alternative fuels, utility rates, new equipment offerings, technology advancement and developments as applicable for various business segments. Monitors regulatory and code issues that would affect various natural gas markets. Advises management of what action is necessary to ensure competitiveness.

Required Education (certifications, licenses)
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering or related degree
Required knowledge, skill and abilities
At least 5-7 years of sales or equivalent experience directly interfacing with customers
Requires a high level of tact, diplomacy and professionalism
Resolves conflict with ease and confidence
Provides candid feedback regarding performance to direct reports
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Highly skilled in the art of negotiation
Strong interpersonal skills with the proven ability to establish rapport with a diverse array of people

Manages multiple projects with competing priorities
Strong skills with SalesForce, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint

Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities
Proficient knowledge of Company tariffs, rules and regulations – including all commercial and industrial rate classifications and structure
Knowledge of the RFI process as it relates to economic development councils and regional growth initiatives
Commercial construction process
Knowledge of natural gas installation codes and standards
End-use technologies for large commercial and industrial applications
Calculation of gas consumption, hourly demand, billing and margin
Calculation of rate comparisons for competing energy sources
Understanding of the natural gas distribution system – particularly as it relates to interstate and intrastate pipeline transportation
Strong understanding of traditional and telemetric metering equipment
Ability to read and interpret construction documents and architectural plans
Ability to interpret mechanical specifications for natural gas industrial equipment
Physical demands, environment and schedule
Work Environment: Work is normally performed in a shared office environment. Requires frequent phone calls and interruptions both during and after working hours
Working Hours: Typically, 8 hours a day, Monday through Friday. Overtime will be required to meet strict deadlines
Travel: Occasional travel may be required.
