Southern Company Analyst II, Applic (Product Owner) in Birmingham, Alabama
Job Description:
Southern Company is seeking a highly motivated Agile Product Owner to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the development and continuous improvement of the COOL Compliance Suite, COOL Compliance and COOL Compliance Customer. COOL Compliance is an internally developed enterprise-wide application used to manage physical and logical access to Southern Company assets. COOL Compliance Customer is a COOL Compliance front end component that manages external Business-to-Business (B2B) user identities and their entity access. This role requires some understanding of Agile methodologies, excellent communication skills effective analytical skills, a strong problem-solving acumen, and the ability to offer creative solutions to meet evolving business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and communicate the product strategy and roadmap for the COOL Compliance Suite.
Gather and prioritize requirements, ensuring alignment with business goals.
Collaborate with the Scrum Master and development team to ensure user stories are implemented correctly.
Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
Maintain and prioritize the product backlog, writing well-defined user stories and acceptance criteria.
Act as a point of contact between the development team and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and managing expectations.
Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success, analyzing data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software developers, cybersecurity experts, and stakeholders, to ensure alignment of product objectives.
Develop a features and enhancements roadmap that is in line with business objectives.
Conduct regular assessments of the application’s security posture, identifying and mitigating potential vulnerabilities.
Oversee the entire product lifecycle, from conception to deployment and beyond, ensuring continuous improvement and adaptation to emerging threats.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with external partners and vendors to ensure the integration of cutting-edge technologies.
Stay current with industry trends and advancements in cybersecurity and access management to inform product development decisions.
Job Requirements: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills):
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Business Administration or related field.
Experience as a Product Owner or similar role in an agile environment, preferably with access management or compliance applications.
Understanding of agile methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban, and experience with tools like Jira or Agility.
Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication and collaboration across all teams and levels.
Capability to understand complex technical information.
Able to multi-task and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficiency with computer skills including Microsoft Suite products (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
Strong decision-making capabilities, with a proven ability to weigh the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and identify the most appropriate one.
Ability to understand deep technical concepts and translate those concepts and communicate it to non-technical audiences.
Commitment to delivering high-quality, prompt service to the business.
Proven track record of successfully managing complex, technical products from inception to delivery.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to data protection and cybersecurity.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Understanding of cybersecurity principles, including access control, identity management, and threat mitigation.
Understanding of Rest API and integration architecture patterns.
Experience with user experience (UX) design and user interface (UI) development.
Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or PMP are highly desirable.
