Job Description Summary:

This position has the responsibility for the development and implementation of plans and procedures for the testing and commissioning of highly complex transmission and distribution substation projects. This position works closely with stakeholders including Project Management, Protection & Controls Engineering and Test in the development of project test and commissioning plans with a focus on ensuring safety and eliminating issues and errors during the commissioning process. This position is responsible for commissioning of substation equipment as individual units (breakers, transformers, etc.) as well as overall project commission including controls, systems, relays, metering, etc.

Key/Core Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the development of procedures for the successful test and commissioning of substation projects in accordance with industry and Eversource standards with a high focus on safety and human performance while maintaining system reliability.
  • Responsible for project test data review, collection, and acceptance.
  • Collaborates effectively with other including engineers within the Engineering organization to ensure consistency and teamwork.
  • Assists with root-cause analysis, development and implementation of corrective actions relating to project commissioning.
  • Supports other staff engineer duties, as assigned.


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Engineering Technology required.
  • 5+ years of experience in utilitydistribution/transmissionengineering required.
  • Electrical engineering knowledge with a focus on substation project testing and commissioning is preferred.
  • Valid CT/MA driver’s license.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in both office and field environments.
  • Must be available to travel between CT and MA for assignments.
  • Must be available to work emergency storm assignment as required.
