The Transmission business transmits and distributes electricity from power generators to distribution centers, other electric utilities and customers. The transmission system includes lines and transformer stations, while the distribution system consists of lines, poles, meters and wiring that deliver the electricity to customers.

Role and Scope of Position:

The Senior Communications Specialist, Transmission, will provide strategy, content, and advocacy support to Eversource's Electric Transmission organization. The Sr. Specialist will assist with developing strategic plans, creating compelling presentations and communications materials, facilitating educational outreach with key stakeholders at the state, regional and national levels, and leveraging a variety of communications channels to highlight important Transmission work underway to ensure grid reliability, affordability and enabling a clean energy future.

Essential Functions:

Works with company leaders to develop and execute effective communications strategies to inform external stakeholders about Transmission projects, policies and benefits.

Writes presentations, collateral materials and other communications vehicles.

Strives to position Eversource Energy and its leadership team in a manner that enhances the company’s reputation with all audiences.

Proactively seeks communications opportunities to increase brand awareness and convey Transmission’s value proposition and narrative.

Works collaboratively and effectively with key outside stakeholders to advance the company’s Transmission priorities.

Researches and synthesizes potentially complex information for a range of communications needs.

Monitors media and industry-related activities about the company and its competitors and identifies emerging issues and opportunities.

Builds and maintains strong relationships within Communications to share ideas, spear-head inter-disciplinary projects and coordinate common work efforts.

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

Technical Knowledge/Skill:

Excellent communications skills including, including written, oral, and public speaking.

Proven experience in developing and executing sound communications and outreach strategies.

Strong project coordination and management skills.

Ability to work effectively with various levels within and outside the organization.

Strong business acumen and team membership skills.

Ability and willingness to work with a sense of urgency and a commitment to driving business results.

Education:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Political Science, Public Policy or a closely-related discipline is required.

Experience:

A minimum of eight (8) years of related experience in corporate communications, agency, policy/project advocacy, or a political campaign environment is required. Experience in planning, writing, coordinating, and executing a variety of communications products is required.

Working Conditions:

Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.

Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
