Eversource Energy Manager, Distribution Vegetation Management in Berlin, Connecticut
Plans, coordinates and manages the Eversource service territory Vegetation Management program including; budget, performance, vendor agreements and work scope management. Ensures that the entire Vegetation Management organization functions as an effective team to meet or exceed the business unit’s performance goals within the defined schedule and budget. Effectively communicate program objectives and activities to various regulatory and municipal officials to influence desired outcomes.
Essential Functions:
- Leads safety awareness and compliance initiatives and monitors safety performance. Increases employee and vendor safety awareness and promotes a culture of zero incidents.
- Provides overall vegetation management program leadership that focuses on customer satisfaction, continuous cost and performance improvement.
- Manages the program work scope planning and scheduling collaboratively with the vegetation services providers to ensure budget, schedule and quality performance objectives are met.
- Develops and manages the vegetation management vendor resource strategy along with Vegetation Management and Supply Chain team to ensure both short-term and long-term success of the program.
- Leads the collaborative development and continuing management of program performance metrics which are directly linked and aligned with the corporate, and program goals and objectives.
- Establishes and maintains a documented vegetation management program strategy that meets key stakeholder expectations. Provides timely, clear and consistent communications to key stakeholders on a regular basis.
- Manages the respective Eversource vegetation management team to ensure operational consistency, vendor relationship development and continuous improvement behaviors. Ensures consistent execution of vegetation management policies, procedures and practices.
- Develops and nurtures all key internal and external stakeholder relationships.
- Supports storm restoration efforts through personal involvement, management of team personnel and acquisition of supplemental vegetation management resources.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Arboriculture, Business Management, Engineering, Sciences or related field or equivalent experience; Master’s Degree in Forestry, Arboriculture, Business, Management, Engineering, Sciences or related field preferred.
Experience :
Minimum of ten (10) or more years of utility related experience. Working knowledge of distribution and transmission power system design and operation, safety awareness principles, and information technology systems.
Licenses & Certifications:
Requires a State Arborist license, international Society of Arboriculture certification and valid driver’s license.
Working Conditions:
- Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
- Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
- Work is performed in an office environment which requires sitting, standing and general movement throughout the office area. Work is also performed outdoors which may require walking and traveling in maintained and unmaintained areas that may contain uneven ground and steep grades. Attends to events, situations and problems in off-ours, if necessary.
Mental Aspects :
Work involves management of the program including field team and contractors ensuring safety and compliance of all federal, state and local regulations. Additionally, analysis of complex systems and data to develop technical writing, specifications and communications. This role works in an environment that often requires the performance of multiple simultaneous activities, where deadlines need to be met and work is performed under pressure while involving significant business commitments and results. This role must be able to influence internal and external stakeholders to obtain outcomes that are aligned with the distribution program objectives. Strong interpersonal skills and comfort in public speaking are needed to communicate Eversource’s program and practices in a variety of venues from in the field, to public meetings and regulatory and legal proceedings.
Eversource Energy offers a competitive total rewards program. The annual salary range for this position is $134,380 to $149,310, plus incentive. Salary is commensurate with experience. Check our career site for an overview of our benefits.
