Eversource Energy Manager, Distribution Communications in Berlin, Connecticut

(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHmr45H8xZE)Responsible for leading the design, implementation, and support of Eversource wireless telecommunication system (Voice and Data) which supports electric and gas utility operations in three states. Individual is responsible for ensuring that distribution field devices connected to the company’s wireless networks are optimally configured to support real-time operations of the electric distribution system. Individual will manage various wireless and field device technologies to ensure that Eversource is utilizing the right mix of products and services to meet operational requirements. Individual will manage a team of technical telecommunications and automation engineering staff to plan, engineer, design, and support the company’s distribution telecommunications system.

Essential Functions:

  • Manages wireless telecommunication deployment projects to ensure that the delivery is on-time, within budget and meets business requirements
  • Develops and implements processes, standards and metrics to drive the design and build of the wireless networks across Eversource
  • Manages and coordinates the definition and selection of field device technology to meet electric distribution SCADA needs and overall electric operations operating strategy
  • Collects and tracks the ongoing performance of the company’s wireless networks and seeks resolution to known issues
  • Manages on-going telecommunications technology operations and processes to ensure high quality, cost effective services
  • Supports the development and implementation of the company’s Grid Modernization plan
  • Manages technical engineering team to develop an effective, motivated organization
  • Develops and monitors operating budgets and capital project budgets

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

Technical Knowledge/Skill:

  • Comprehensive understanding of the design, specification and installation of wireless telecommunications systems, such as microwave, radio, cellular and phone.
  • Comprehensive understanding of SCADA engineering concepts in particular DNP 3.0 protocol
  • Excellent communications and presentation skills at the senior leadership level.

Education:

  • Bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering, telecommunications engineering or related discipline.
  • Master of Science degree in engineering or MBA preferred

Experience :

  • Minimum of ten years of experience in the design, implementation and support of wireless telecommunications systems and SCADA engineering.
  • Must have experience with the application of wireless telecommunications infrastructure for both voice and data applications
  • Understanding of electric and gas utility systems is strongly preferred.
  • Two years supervising experience

Working Conditions:

  • Must be available to work emergency storm assignment as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
