Michigan Gas Utilities, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Mechanic for our Benton Harbor location.

The Mechanic ensures proper repair and maintenance of company vehicles and equipment by performing preventive maintenance, inspection and service, troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Basic machining operations, critical welding and tire repairs.

Job Duties:

  • Washes refuels and lubricates vehicles.

  • Changes oil, filters and performs tune ups of vehicles.

  • Performs and assists other classifications in the maintenance and repair of vehicles, work equipment and machinery.

  • Maintains vehicle records, etc.

  • Keeps work area clean and is responsible for tools and other work equipment used in the performance of his/her duties.

  • Other work as defined in the collective bargaining agreement.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Technical Degree in Automotive and/or Diesel Mechanics

  • 1+ years Basic PC skills.

  • 1+ years - Previous Automotive Maintenance experience.

  • Must be State certified in in engine repair, steering, suspensions, braking systems, electrical systems and tune ups.

  • Valid Drivers License

  • Must have or obtain and maintain valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) – Expectation is to pass the CDL written test within 90 days and obtain the CDL within 180 days of accepting position.
