About the Job

We are currently searching for a talented, full time Payroll Specialist to assist in processing payroll. In this role, you will perform a variety of day-to-day payroll tasks such as time entry, reviewing timesheets for accuracy, and answering questions in a friendly and timely manner. Patience and attention to detail are a must!

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Incumbent must have the skills, ability, and judgment to perform the following essential job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Process payroll for 300+ employees

  • Update and maintain employee records, process termination checks, review and validate timecard entries

  • Explain payroll procedures to employees and Project Engineers/Managers, and respond to inquiries by email/ telephone/in person

  • Complete Verifications of Employment (VOE) for current and previous employees

  • Complete quarterly EDD audits for previous and current employees

  • Maintain payroll records and follow established company policies to ensure compliance with internal control protocols

  • Perform clerical duties weekly of scanning timecards and saving them into eCMS

  • Payroll tax filing / reporting

  • Other duties and ad hoc projects as assigned

ACCOUNTABILITIES

KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • High school diploma or equivalent - required

  • Associates degree in Accounting - preferred

  • Experience with Certified Payroll

  • Minimum of three years related work experience in payroll experience

  • Prior union payroll experience desired

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to multitask

  • Exceptional organizational skills

  • Able to maintain confidentiality

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; use Excel to perform essential job functions including pivot tables and v-lookups

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The requirements listed below are representative of the physical ability required.

  • Lift 15 pounds 1 to 3 times per shift

  • Carry 10 pounds 1 to 3 times per shift

  • Bending from waist up to 5 times per shift

  • Sit for 7 hours per shift

  • Stand for 1 hour per shift
