Alliant Energy T-Maintenance Technician – IC&E/Combustion Turbine Technician in Beloit, Wisconsin
Performs combustion turbine operations, combined cycle, HRSG, and steam generator inspections and instrument control and electrical in a safe and efficient manner adhering to all corporate and company guidelines to ensure compliance with all city, state, and federal regulations.
Participates in job safety briefings, safety tailgate sessions, safety reviews and safety observations.
Observes, operates and initiates repairs to the combustion turbine, combined cycle, HRSG, steam generator and related equipment.
Maintain an accurate operating log of all equipment and performs preventive maintenance.
Maintains, operates and repairs water treatment systems. Receives and unloads acid and caustic trucks. Troubleshoots and repairs the water treatment systems controls and valves.
Maintain optimum water treatment system performance.
Calibrates and repairs recording and indicating instrumentation.
Maintains water treatment systems. Performs tests and reports data on waste treatment systems.
Maintains performance monitoring and control equipment. Monitors gas and steam turbine performance. Keeps testing records as assigned.
Maintains warehouse, orders supplies as needed.
Performs regular inspections of gas and steam turbines and auxiliary equipment utilizing Maximo. Participates during overhauls of all related plant equipment.
Performs the instrument control and electrical, basic mechanical troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, cleaning, inspecting and constructing of equipment and systems for the generation facility.
Operates and/or obtains information from various electrical devices used to support specific equipment diagnostics or work activities; gathers, interprets and logs data.
Is proficient in the use of machine tools and various hand powered tools as job needs dictate.
Operates mobile and heavy equipment to perform maintenance tasks.
Performs various welding activities.
Supports safety, plant reliability, productivity, and plant efficiency improvements by participating in various continuous improvement activities.
Performs all work according to established procedures and safety practices.
Performs various generating plant and shop area housekeeping functions.
Performs other duties which are similar, related, or incidental to this position.
Requisition ID:3640BRPosition Type:Regular Recruiting Location(s):Beloit, WI Schedule Type:Full-Time Posting Details:We are currently recruiting for four experienced T-Maintenance Technician – Instrument Control and Electrical/Combustion Turbine Technicians to join our team in Beloit, WI which is centrally located between Chicago, Milwaukee and Madison.
In this role, you will perform a variety of work connected with the operations, inspections and instrument control and electric of combustion turbine, combined cycle, HRSG, and steam generator sites. As well as performing varied instrument control and electrical, basic mechanical and maintenance activities and other duties necessary to maintain the generation facility to which they are assigned.
Work will be performed under the general supervision of a salaried Manager, Supervisor, or Master of Combustion Turbine Technician as assigned.
For this position you will start within the range of $33.66-$42.08/hour. Once you are fully trained, your pay will start at $42.08/hour and you will earn step increases up to $44.09/hour in this role.
This position requires the applicant to live within 60 minutes of the assigned headquarters. (Relocation expense eligibility may be considered.)
Riverside Generating Station Overview:
This is the initial wave of hiring for expanding the staff of an existing 675 Megawatt plant. The existing facility is a 2 x 1 natural gas fired combined cycle with two (2) frame 7FA GE Gas turbines and a Siemens steam turbine. Riverside Energy Center is located on a 315-acre campus with an attached 2MW solar facility and Alliant Energy’s Southern Operations Center. There are an additional 5 natural gas fired peaking gas turbines totaling 200 Megawatts run by the staff.
A new 700 Megawatt 2 x 1 natural gas fired combined cycle plant with two (2) frame 7FA.05 GE Gas Turbines and a GE steam turbine is currently under construction and will be in service by 2020. The new facility will add an additional 90 acres and 2.3 Megawatts worth of solar to the existing energy center footprint.
The resulting two power blocks will be operated and maintained as one staff with Instrument Control and Electrical/Combustion Turbine Technical working at both facilities.
This position will be expected to perform duties as an Instrument Control and Electrical/Combustion Turbine Technical at both facilities.
This position will be involved with startup and commissioning of the new plant in addition to operating the existing plant. However, this is NOT a temporary or solely commissioning position.

Two years electrical or instrument and control technical college or equivalency
Four year experience in electrical or instrument and control trade or completed apprenticeship
Two years of Combustion Turbine electrical experience
Must possess a valid driver’s license
Demonstrated ability to solve problems
Proven ability to work on delicate equipment
Demonstrated ability to coordinate work and work with others
Strong sense of personal and technical responsibility
Possess necessary skills in basic mechanical
Ability to work from blueprints, diagrams, drawings, and specifications
Knowledge of plant operations and systems
Developed skills in machining
Knowledge of theory and skill in welding
Knowledge of company safety rules
Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job
