Materials Engineer - BWX Technologies, Inc. - Barberton, Ohio
Performs Materials Engineer duties in support of the procurement of raw material commodities, tubing, forgings, machining, machining, fabrication, plating and/or services.
Reviews and interprets customer technical specifications and requirements and assists in development of procurement technical packages.
Develops Bills of Material for new projects, and assists with the development of material cost and level-of-effort estimates in support of proposals.
Verifies the suppliers' proposals, processing, procedures and delivered product are adequate and meet technical ordering requirements. Expected to learn and become expert in supplier's methods and processes relevant to product quality.
Participates in risk assessments, supplier audits, surveillance and witnessing of operations at suppliers. Works with Purchasing, Quality and other Engineering disciplines to develop and qualify new suppliers. Position may require ability to support significant travel and/or extended assignments as a resident at key suppliers (foreign or domestic) on a rotating basis with others in the department.
Evaluates and contributes to disposition of discrepant material. Reviews certifications and performs technical releases on acceptable material.
Supports plant manufacturing operations by providing technical expertise as necessary.
Qualified candidates must possess a B.S. in Metallurgy, Material Science or equivalent
2 years of work experience is preferred.
Must be a U.S. Citizen with no dual citizenship, capable of receiving a DOE security clearance.

Position requires U.S. Citizenship (with no dual citizenship) and ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance which involves an extensive criminal and financial background investigation and previous employment reference verifications.
