Electrical Engineering Manager - BWX Technologies, Inc. - Barberton, OH
Manages the Electrical Engineering department consisting of three Electrical Engineers/Technicians in all aspects of electrical control and facility power distribution systems.
Applies electrical theory and related knowledge to assist the Maintenance and Facility Engineering departments with troubleshooting, testing, and modifying electrical machinery and electrical control equipment.
Assesses needs for motor-control devices, switch panels, transformers, solenoids, and other electrical equipment and components according to sound electrical engineering principles.
Forecasts and manages financial expense and capital requirements for all electrical power and equipment control projects.
Prepares electrical scopes of work, evaluates subcontractor quotes, prepares capital authorization request packages, then manages facility power distribution and equipment control capital projects.
Responsible for maintaining plant power infrastructure, electrical testing, and upgrades of all substations on campus while complying to applicable code requirements.
Oversees the development and installation of equipment CNC, PLC, and motor drive control system upgrades.
Plans facility power outages and oversees electrical contractors during weekends or holidays to minimize disruptions to the 24/7 production demand.
Responsible for maintaining proper documentation and arc flash labeling per Federal/State/Local applicable code requirements.
Performs single-line modeling including short circuit calculations, voltage drop calculations, conductor sizing, time current curve studies, and conduit fill calculations..
Job Qualifications / Requirements:
Ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, a MBA, and a minimum of 15+ years of managerial and technical experience in facility power distribution systems and machine controls.
Working knowledge of National Electric Codes, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes 70E and 79, NETA MTS Standards, Pearl Reconditioning Standards, and 29 CFR 1910 OSHA Standards.
Advanced understanding of facility power distribution and control systems in a production shop environment is preferred.
Experience with AutoCAD, EasyPower software, and/or Siemens machine controls is a plus.
Successful candidate will be self-directed, detail oriented, and have strong communication skills.
Proficient at Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Must be US Citizen and be able to obtain a government security clearance.
