Dimensional Test Examiner - BWX Technologies, Inc. - Barberton, OH
Maintain a safe work area; comply with safety procedures, and equipment operating rules.
Responsible for the development and implementation of the Dimension Inspection Training and Qualification program in compliance with customer requirements.
Interface with, and provide technical assistance to hourly inspectors regarding inspection techniques and methods.
Conduct training and testing for inspector qualification.
Conduct surveillance of inspector performance.
Performs training and development of non-inspection employees in inspection methods
Reviews of procedures, work instructions, and manufacturing plans.
Works with inspectors, manufacturing engineers, quality engineers and others to resolve inspection and quality issues.
Write and updated various inspection procedures and documents.
Read, understand and interpret customer requirements to ensure the dimensional inspection program compliance.
Develop, evaluate, and implement new inspection technologies and methodologies
Travel as required for training and to perform work at other company, vendor and customer facilities
Provide expertise on measurement and inspection techniques.
Review drawings and make recommendation of dimensioning and tolerancing strategies.
Qualifications / Requirements:
Minimum A.S. degree in technical field + 12 years of experience, or
Typically requires a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience Applicable Technical Degree or experience in comparable field preferred.
Knowledgeable in all elements of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing for engineering drawings.
Competent with shop mathematics, specifically with geometry and trigonometry. Able calculate measurement results from raw measurements.
Experience with hands on inspection techniques using micrometers, indicators, profilometers, bore gages, surface finish, and optical comparators.
Coordinate measuring system or other computerized measuring device experience a plus.
Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Position requires U.S. Citizenship (with no dual citizenship) and ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance which involves an extensive criminal and financial background investigation and previous employment reference verifications.
