Your Impact at SAM
The Survey Department Manager oversees the operations and growth of the Surveying department in the Mid-Atlantic region, leading a team of industry professionals. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality survey services, efficient project execution, and compliance with industry standards. The Survey Department Manager emphasizes operational excellence, team development, client satisfaction, and strategic growth across multiple markets.
Department Operations and Leadership
Manage department operations, ensuring efficient resource use and productivity
Set plans, staffing levels, and workflows for successful project delivery
Implement procedures to improve efficiency and maintain high-quality standards
Oversee project scopes, budgets, schedules, and QA/QC processes
Project Management and Technical Oversight
Provide guidance on survey projects (boundary, topographic, construction, etc.)
Monitor performance metrics to ensure productivity and profitability
Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
Client and Business Development
Build strong client relationships to ensure satisfaction and repeat business
Collaborate with leadership to identify and secure new opportunities
Represent the company at meetings, conferences, and trade shows
Team Leadership and Development
Recruit, mentor, and develop team members to build a cohesive department
Foster a collaborative and accountable work culture
Support staff growth and allocate resources to meet project needs
Strategic Planning and Collaboration
Align department goals with company strategies
Help optimize workflows and resource allocation
Contribute to growth strategies for the department
The ideal candidate will excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, demonstrating strong leadership, adaptability, and the ability to inspire and guide a large team toward achieving operational and strategic goals
What You Bring to SAM
Previous relavant industry experience
Strong knowledge of survey principles, methods, technologies, and industry standards
Professional Surveyor’s License (e.g., PLS or RPLS) isrequired
Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Demonstrated success in managing teams, client relationships, and business development with a proven track record in leadership and project management
