Primary Purpose
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
Assists and trains in the following maintenance and test functions under the guidance of a Lead Substation Technician or job site supervisor: overhauling/repairing OCB's, VCB's, ACB's, ATB's, capacitors, potential devices, transformers, regulators, reactors, batteries/battery chargers, etc. Assist and trains in various electrical test functions such as timing, power factoring, moisture tests, meggar, soil restivity, and other tests related to the overhaul and repair of system equipment. Works off ladders, platforms, lifts, and other means of egress to perform associated duties as trainee. Assist and trains in the use of engineering prints, instruction books and other means of equipment documentation to gain additional knowledge of various equipment. Assists and trains in rigging of equipment in energized substations. Is able to escort and direct supervisor. Obtains work permits for assignments in energized substations. Is able to escort and direct vendors inside energized substations. Drives cars and trucks, operates various equipment, including oil pumpers, man lifts, vacuum pumps, under the direction of the Lead Substation Technician or job site supervisor. Notes: Is required to job site report and work during emergencies. May be required to assist in emergency restoration of secondary service. Must be available for emergencies and overtime. Works indoors and outdoors, in all weather conditions. Climbs 40 ft. structures.

Education/Experience: Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent Some work experience in installation and repair of electrical equipment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge: Basic knowledge of electrical theory and engineering drawings. Skills/Abilities: Ability to operate power tools, equipment, drive trucks. Valid Level I Authorization or appropriate Commercial Driver's License, and ability to meet Company driving standards. Satisfactory completion of the Technical Occupations Test (TECH). Demonstrated ability to write, speak, read, comprehend and communicate clearly and accurately in the English language. Must be willing and able to work overtime on a regular basis and must be available for callout overtime. if and when required, consistent with the Labor Agreement. Disclaimer: May perform other duties as assigned. May be required to respond to emergency events.

Hourly rates will be paid in accordance with terms of the candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience or collective bargaining agreement: $28.12/Hr.
